sneaky sneaky police

as i was driving last night on the highway i saw a cop pulling off the road to set himself up for a speed trap, but what he did was he pulled down into this gully between the roads, he was low enough so that nobody's headlights hit his reflectors, lights off and he disappeared. i picked a good night to stop speeding, saw 3 cops hiding on a highway where i have never seen one before, and someone blew by me going about 90 and a cop pulle dout of nowhere and pulled him over, i laughed.

Sol 09-06-2005 11:45 AM

That is sneaky. Whenever I'm driving on a somewhat empty freeway at night, I always make sure there is someone going slightly faster than me.

I actually witnessed a similar scenario as you. I was going 80, and a guy in front of me was going prolly 85 or so. A state cop came out of nowhere, flew right by me and pulled over the other car.

willwren 09-06-2005 11:47 AM

Here in OR, they hide behind the columns in the center divide, under an overpass.

Paul 09-06-2005 12:09 PM

After getting pulled over a few time I really took a hard look at the methods Police departmets used to catch speeders. I spoke with a few officres I know, I tracked multiple statistics such as time of day, locations, types of vehicles, types of drivers, driving characteristics, I also studied various traffic laws in a few states and I started to see a pattern and certain characteristics of speeding violations became evident. Using what I learned I applied it to when I was driving and for over 5 years now I have not received a speeding ticket.

I am willing to share what I know with everyone here but please don't spread it on other message boards because if everyone starts using this method the Police departments are going to change their methods.

Below is what I learned to avoid speeding tickets, I can not guarantee results but it's worked for me:

Don't go over the posted speed limit. Remember, keep it to yourselves.

BillBoost37 09-06-2005 12:29 PM

Hahahahaha.. Good one.

Actually there are stats, but there's also the exceptions. The exceptions are the cops that have been able to catch me in past years when excessive speeding was part of my daily driving.

I learned many things over the years. And pretty much the near sure fire way is to drive within or barely over the speed limits. And the truth is an amazing thing.

Also..on those sneaky police... those are about the only ones that were actually able to catch me. The lazy ones always lost out.

daman 09-06-2005 01:07 PM

They were out in force this weekend enforceing that drunk driving campaine that they do.

sqela 09-06-2005 01:41 PM

The importaint thing is to get a good radar detector and know where the cops like to hang out in your local area. For example I avoid the the state parkways on long island and use the highway instead. The parkway is full of trees which the state troopers love to hid in. The highway on the other hand has no where for the cops to hide so you can spot them from quite the distance. And also if you have any spots "known for street racing" keep your distance. I got pulled over by a cop waiting to catch racers even though I wasnt even racing :(

I did that once, too. Only the when the officer passed me, he was shaking his finger at me.

And I happened to notice he was hiding behind a huge bush right after the overpass.

I've used this web site in the past, it has a lot of useful info on fighting tickets.

www.ticketassassin.com

Enjoy!

Err...did you mean this to be in another thread?

Let's try to stay on the topic of sneaky policemen. :P

daman 09-06-2005 02:48 PM

sounds like thats only for California??? :?

IO 09-06-2005 02:49 PM

This seems to be on topic. Unless your sneaky police don't give tickets were you live.

I think it would work anywhere. Just use a little common sense.

If an officer was incognito as such, and caught me red-handed, why would I try to fight it?

Why wouldn't you. It is your right to fight it even if you where in the wrong. Why pay more money than we already have to. (ie; Registration, Gas Tax, income tax, Toll's etc)

No not at all. I'm just saying comon sense should be enough to make it work in other states. I would never put someone down in such a manner.

Just thought i'd stir ya up

BillBoost37 09-06-2005 03:16 PM

No stirring needed. Let's hop back on track.

When I said only the sneakiest and non-lazy cops caught me it was because I already know radar detectors can only detect what they receive. Therefore if the cop uses lazer or instant on radar then they will get you just about every time.

auroradude 09-06-2005 04:47 PM

If i was going 95 or 100 like some of you folkds said other people blew by you at -- I would just keep going faster. AT that point, its gonna take the officer at least 15 seocnds to get to 100mph, and hopefully you will be waaaaaaay gone by that time.

Unless there is a unit up ahead he radios too, you can be home free and just make a few good turns really quickly, and black your lights out while your doing it. My friend ran from the cops twice -- Not something i would do, but hes one crazy mofo. When you have a much faster car than the police and are on a major interstate with NOBODY on it at 2am -- its easy to run from em. He said he was flooring it to 145 and he never got pulled over. Went home, switched cars and went out again. All was good :D

If I wasn't willing to accept the consequences of my actions, I simply wouldn't do it. I guess I've just been raised that way.

That has nothing to do with it. Tickets in the beginning tickets were there as a deterent. Now it is more of income for the government. Hey if they have proof of me speeding I'll pay the fine but if they can't, who's to say that I did it. Speeding is a misdemeanor in most states, and last time I checked you were innocent until proven guilty not visa versa. Here in California if you get stopped for speeding most fines range from 400.00 to 1500.00 and that is just speeding not for reckless driving. Besides the fine you get what the courts tack on as a penalty assesment. In april I got a ticket for doing 83 mph on my way to Dulles airport in Fairfax, VA. My ticket was only 190.00, I paid it no problem. But then I did a little checking on the issues of speeding in Fairfax, VA and found that there has been a number of cases involving illegal Speed Traps and ticketing for 1 or 2 mph over the speed limit. This is grossly unfair to people. I believe that if you cannot be proved guilty then why pay this is our justice system. If you don't care about how our justice system works then there are plenty of other countries that don't give you rights. Just my 2 and then some pennies!

I see. So fight our unbalanced judicial system by being dishonest and unjust ourselves. Makes sense...

IO 09-06-2005 09:08 PM

No dishonesty involved. They must prove you guilty! Period!

what was he driving

Rosco the Iroc 09-07-2005 04:35 PM

I never travel w/o a CB. Truckers are my heros somedays! Plus I keep it to 10 over or less if I can help it so IF I get pop'ed it's not so bad.

Taylora 09-07-2005 07:52 PM

Here in VA when I got pulled over I was doing 74 in a 55 and I didn't even see the cop, all I saw were lights and that was it. But for the exceptions I drive into the city daily now and on Rt.66 I will be going 85-90 and trying to keep up with traffic, and cops won't pull you over.

Damemorder 09-09-2005 12:06 AM

heh... I had one sit in the middle of a parking lot across the street... I didn't see him... And I was getting new tires the next day... So that was expensive. I just drive slower now.
