Snake River/Bonneville Canyon..17 amazing photos
 

As you drop into the Snake River Canyon, you can trace some of the geologic history of the area. The canyon cliffs show layer upon layer of lava flows interspersed with sedimentary layers. As you reach the bottom, the canyon floor is scattered with hundreds of house-size boulders left behind from the Bonneville flood. This flood raced through the canyon 15,000 years ago with more than 100 m (350 ft) of water rushing at 110 km (70 mi) per hour.

Decided to take a hike....Down, then Up a failry steep dangerous loose gravel trail that scales a 600 foot cliff in the snake river canyon just a 1/4 mile west from where that evil biker dude tried to jump back in the day. I made it, fell twice but hey I was ready and had my hands out. For having a numb leg and a currently torn acl and pcl I think i did pretty good. If you dont remember I had a knee dislocation where it snapped all the nerves in my leg so I cant move or feel my foot much anymore. That wont hold me back though. Period.

theres alot of great photos in that bunch...

There's a place in the eastern part of Idaho where the interstate crosses this huge ancient lava bed. Nothing but jagged rocks and stunted trees for miles. I can't even imagine what it was like to run a highway through that. There's canyons and gorges and gulches all over the state, mountains, high plains, broad slow river and furious little rapids. I think Idaho is probably the most geographically diverse state in the Union.
Unless you're going across I-84, in which case you see nothing but potatos. :lol:
