ABS is a great idea, and on a bike, even better. But shouldn't it be the buyers choice instead of jacking up the cost of the bike because they have to?

It'* not a issue of just turning it off. It'* making people pay for something they don't want.

If it'* standard on all bikes it won't be a factor in the price. Cars don't cost more because they have ABS

Nothing is free. You pay for ABS. It'* just cheaper now because all cars have it. And because all cars have it, you don't notice the extra price.

Not "feeling' the articles punk rider metality at all. Insurace? It can't pay for your life back. As a biker who rides a heavy cruiser with 40 (ya 40) years of experience under my leather, I'm all for ABS. And a something like it that would monitor and control both brakes at the same time. I can't tell you how many times I cheated death in panic stop situations trying to get both brakes equal and stop short of an idiot pulling out in front of me. Often with the result being the rear tire skidding and trying to slip out sideways when equal braking in a very short distance means making the save or eating some half drunk rednecks tailgate cause he think he can accelerate it out of your "impact zone"

Side note. Gotta love the new coffins on two wheels that take you to 200MPH out of the showroom. Street Skills come with years of experience and always watching. They don't come from quick reactions and thinking your on a real life edition of Tron. You never Know whats going to happen, and I've watched several kids in my personal sphere get scraped into coffins recently. Both my neighbors to each side have lost someone in the last 2 years. Women to the right lost her son who was always racing on the curvy 2 lane road to town. It took them over an hour to get the truck off him and his Ninja. The couple to the left lost a nephew on a Suzuki rocket. The speedo was stuck @ 178 when they dug it out of the back of a semi trailer. Being cool and being stupid are 2 opposite directions. And reckless speed and little to no protection leaves only go one way. Odd'* catch up and its sad so many younger guys are becoming statistics.

A coworker has/had the fastest production bike in the world. A car pulled out in front of him, bang. He hit hard. That was over a month ago and he'* still walking a little stiff. I'm no longer interested in bikes. I want 4 tires.

I agree John and Dan. Crotch rockets scare the crap out of me. I like slow, lumbering heavy bikes.
I'm just surprised that ABS for bikes is just now coming around. It should have been out YEARS ago!
