Default Well, Rochester just flooded...

Like the title say, rochester pretty much had a huge water problem due to a storm. I tried to go home for lunch and it took me 1.5 hours to go 7 miles. The main road out of pittsford where I work had 5 inches on the high parts and intersections had 1-1.5 feet. One intersection I went through, waves from the other cars were going OVER my hood. Took several detours about flooded intersections and was forced to go through some others. The highway was even flooded at underpasses. I had to drive through a median, across a grassy area by an off ramp, over a side walk just big enough for my girl and finally through the MIDDLE of the park by me just to get home. Only casualty of the drive do far is the rear bumper cover, which got pulled back from the force of the water and detached the little black piece under it. Brakes are iffy right now.

I get home and the street is flooded right by my house. Walk in and check the leak in the walls that was there from last time and it wasn't leaking... good. Then went to the basement. There was 4 inches of water in it when I got there. Once the neighbors got the street to drain and I got down there, I noticed the high water mark on the back of the basement as 10 inches and the front at just over 12. Thankfully I had moved the rabbits to the garage cause the sides of their cages were only 5 inches and I am not sure how well they swim. Needlesstosay, Some of our stuff was in plastic bins and fine, but there were 5 computers, a laptop, CB and Scanner, and all the parts I took off MY car including the center console.

Well, I am not hugely happy at the moment. Rain and thunder storms are predicted for the rest of today and tomorrow morning, so it'll be a treat.

Man, that sounds like no fun..... keep hanging in there. It'll dry out eventually.

Ready for my cliche line of the day?

Jeff if you need help, i'm a short drive from you. I'm free all night if you need help.

RIT flooded pretty good too. Tunnels under SAU, Between kate gleason and NRH, offices in the Gracies. Under the bridge going for dorms to academic side is deep enough that people are swimming in it.

That sucks Geoff. Just think of the damage that could have occurred to your trunk lid if it were down there. Thank God it was high and dry in my garage!!!

Man, they had to have had a major melt down of the surface water drainage system in Rochester last night / today for that much flooding. It didn't seem like it rained any harder than it has before... And I think that we (genesee county) got about the same storm intensity as Rochester got in the past 36-48 hours...
