New Song: Opinions, please
Hi all.
Some of you may know that I dabble with creating and recording my own music in my home when free time (which is rare) is available.
I just finished a new one called You Tried To Warn Me. I use a program for the drums, then play the bass and lay down the guitar tracks.
Noticeably absent are vocals. I'm trying to figure out how to record them, and believe I need to invest in a preamp/powered mixer.
For now, they are without singing, but if you use your imagination you can figure out where the melody will go!
Please check it out:
www.myspace.com/nt1078
Crank it up real loud, and I hope you like it.
I welcome any suggestion, feedback, constructive criticism.
Some of the samples during the song are from Imogen Heap to contrast the aggressive nature of the song.
If you're on MySpace, add me to your friends list!
Thanks!
Adam

Paul:
Nothing to laugh at regarding your vocals! Really strong, and great stuff you have going on there!
I use Audacity (free download) for my track by track capturing. I use Beatcraft for the drums. You're right, I am guilty of using the same patterns sometimes, need to mix them up a bit! The half time thing was fun for this song. I literally created the beat, copied and pasted into a new file, then cut it to half time.
Perhaps a real drummer would be easier to get along with??
My guitar (built by Alex Lifeson... sweet) runs through a Digitech floor unit. I use a Peavey 5150 for live stuff.
I'd like to know how you lay your vocal tracks down??
Andrew:
x2 on the Imogen Heap. Really nice, haunting music they produce. I thought the samples were a great contrast to an otherwise heavy song. I hope they don't mind what I did to their song. I figure if I'm ever in a position that they notice and decide to file a complaint, that I must be doing okay off my little hobby.
I hope you dug the harmonized part of the guitar solo. Sort of Boston like, eh?
I have a pretty catchy melody in mind for the song. I will be working very soon on getting the vocals captured. I can't sing my way out of a paper bag, but I'm willing to give it a go!
Thanks for checking it out!

I has that same laptop mouse!
On a more on topic note:
Sounds good. Keep up the good work. I didn't think those Digitech all-in-ones could sound that good.

Thanks alot, folks!
Glad you like it.
I use that same Digitech unit for my guitar. I just run it right into my sound card.
There are three rhythm guitar track on this song, so it made it really thick!
Cheers,
Adam
