Rumors or fact?

So some people from work were telling me how the gas company is adding 5% more ethanol to our precious Bonneville juice. Now for what I have learned Ethanol is bad for older engines that weren't designed to run off of that mixture of fuel. Also Doesn't the production of ethanol create more pollution than engines running from non-ethanol fuels? Also that production not only costs more just to produce it and add it to the gas but also is whats causing the rise in gas and everything that has to do with corn?

I'm not sure how much of this is true but if I hit most of it on the head...whats wrong with the American government to not realize or not care?

The facts are 10 states now mandate E-10 gasahol. Thats 10% ethanol in gasoline. Not sure of yours..... google it. I can find nothing in the news wires about any additional states or upping the mixture to 15%. So I call rumor.

It's effects are known to cause problems but the Gov cares more for tree hugging lobbyists and the corn industry than you or I. And why should they. It's all about the money. That's life.

Every time we divert food products into the industrial fuel market, Millions more people starve. And people around the globe are literally dieing of starvation because of the price hikes and unavailability of us to cheaply export grains and corn needed to sustain life. But your Congressman doesn't care about them either, They don't contribute PAC money to his wallet. Want to grab your Congressman's ear. Send him a check for $10,000. He will even let you buy him lunch.

The only good reason to run ethanol is if you have a high compression/high boost engine because it has a higher octane than premium gasoline. I plan on running ethanol.

"Every time we divert food products into the industrial fuel market, Millions more people starve."

Absolutely. The new Prez/GOV needed to have opened drilling up everywhere in the USA as his first act in JAN 2009. It was a matter of national security, economic policy and reduction of sending billions to the middle east (indirectly) every day that does not come back. Bush could not of got away with it, the new Prez could of. Completely clueless. On top of it he should of provided huge incentives for non oil producing USA corps to get into the discovery, drilling and refining business. And finally he should of ordered 50 nuke plants be built from Duluth MN to Buffallo NY (Great Lakes) to generate electricity to lead to hydrogen power.

We need some leadership that will stand up for the economic interests of the country, not just special interest.

Well maybe Donald trump being a businessman who has gained, lost, regained lost and regained again will know some financial tactics and run them as his campaign for presidency if he actually runs. Although he is just another fat cat so who knows. I think we need to quit handing money out that we dont have to everyone else and start helping rebuild the "World's Greatest Nation"

And If I needed to run boost at all I would just go higher octane, the sonoco down the road sell leaded 10[7] (although it is 6.99/gallon)

When i go to my cousins, they have this gas station on the way to their house called "peeps". he lives in oklahoma, and they are very very nice people. the reason why my cousin always goes there is because their gas is 100% ethanol free. There are still places where you can find great service and good gas...its all about looking for the right place :)

Tree hugging lobbyists aren't behind ethanol. The 'environmental benefits' of ethanol is a facade made up by the corn lobby. It takes something like 8 gallons of oil to make and transport a gallon of corn ethanol. The oil costs of other bio sources, such as sugar and algae, are much less, and science is cutting those costs even more as time progresses. The problem with sugar is that you can't grow it out in the midwest.

Food sources aren't really being affected by ethanol production either. Much of the corn that's being used for ethanol is inedible.

Donald Trump is a great manager of real estate, I wouldn't say he'd be a candidate to run the free world. But thats just my opinion.
