Road rage for hicks
 

:rofl: I just saw a local newscast about a road rage incident that happened in a nearby town today...when a guy was cut off by another driver he flipped him off and the two drivers pulled off the road...the rest of the info is sketchy, but it involves one man pulling a hammer from his truck and then the other guy pulling out a bow and arrow! :laughing:

No one was hurt and they were both hauled off to jail...but...c'mon...a bow and arrow and a hammer??? Lmao...what were they thinking? :lol:

After a few years as a cop, and now a few years living in Murderappolis, I have to saw I'm leaning towards the no handguns crowd. Just seeing less and less reasons for civilians to own them.

I know it's too late, and I would never vote to take them away, but I can definitely begin to see the reasoning behind the idea.

A law would only prevent the 'legals' from owning handguns. Criminals would still get them.

I'd rather not live in that kind of world. I too have a permit and carry. It's my right to be able to protect myself and my family from the criminals in our society who would take my rights from me.

If you could get ALL the firearms, and control where they went (including from criminals)......then you may have something that would work. But then you have a country with a serious lack of checks and balances. And another problem....no guns? There's still knives. And baseball bats. And molotov cocktails....and cars. Criminals will always find a weapon to use in order to force their will on us. I, for one, refuse to be a victim.

What was the first thing Hitler did when he gained power? Disarmed the public. Why? So he couldn't be threatened. The Brits tried that with us once. It didn't work. Now we have one of the greatest democracies, and more freedoms than just about any other country. (Along with our Northern neighbors, eh?).

I am glad there are a few of the "legally carrying" crowd around here...I have had my permit for 6 years and my husband has had his for longer....can't imagine life without it now.

See, that's the problem I have. There are tons of people who legally own handguns with no problem. Then you got the idiots and criminals. The problem is, and the reason I would never support a law, is the legal folks would most likely comply. You'd still have criminals and idiots. That's why I'm torn. I'm am in no way against legal ownership and use, and even less against ownership of rifles and such.

It's handguns and automatic weapons I am torn about. I can see, from experience, both sides of the argument. I have been to shooting scenes, and have been shot in the line of duty. These facts put me on one side of the fence.

But, as a kid, I was raised with guns in the house. I was the "owner" of a pistol, rifle, and shotgun myself. So I know the fun of hunting, plinking, and general ownership.

I no longer own, or have a desire to own, any guns. Basically living every day of my life with some sort of firearm hanging from my body for close to 15 years kinda took the charm out of it for me.

Too bad it's not a perfect world. Then we could make everyone happy. Until then, we just have to watch out for the criminals and idiots I guess...

I think the problem has to do with a lot of state laws. In ohio you cant carry concealed period, unless your law enforcement. You cant even carry a gun in a car unless its unloaded and locked away from the amunition (i.e. in a glove box with ammo in the trunk, or vice versa. So if and when you ever need it, its like:

"Excuse me, would you mind waiting to bludgeon me with that crowbar while I open the trunk, get my ammo and then load my gun? Thanks...."

That is my biggest issue with current firearm legislation as well...it is very different in different states across the country. More states are coming around to the viewpoint that law abiding citizens should be given the right to protect themselves and their loved ones with a firearm (36, or perhaps 37 states now have "right to carry" laws, and only 6 states deny the right completely), but the rules vary so much that if I accidentally cross the border into Massachusettes (I live within 10 miles of the border) with my carry gun, I have gone from being a perfectly law abiding citizen to being a criminal worthy of a mandatory jail sentence! I am all for a federal permit so that across the country we only have one set of rules to abide by.

The other thing that really bothers me about gun laws is the ignorance and hypocrasy. I'll tackle ignorance first...the Assault Weapons Ban is the most retarded piece of useless fluff I have ever seen! It bans cosmetic features that bear no connection to the danger of these weapons. It bans guns with detatchable magazines and any two of these features...a collapsable stock (which does not shorten it much...these are large weapons, it's not like you can collapse the stock and slip it under a coat), a bayonett lug (to avoid all those drive by bayonettings :roll: :lol: ), a grenade launcher (any two features...so if I want I can have just a grenade launcher? :shock: :lol:), a threaded barrel for a flash suppressor (cause you know, that's so dangerous :roll: ), and a pistol grip (come on...a grip makes a gun dangerous? I know a lot of guys with hunting rifles that would beg to differ :P ). And yet, the ban leaves fully automatic rifles and machine guns legal if you want to pay 300 bucks for a class 3 firearms license! My hope is that this useless law will sunset this year (when it was signed into law, there was an expiration date...a new law must be submitted for it to continue :D ).

And now the hypocrasy. There are places all over the country where it is illegal for anyone to carry a gun except for government officials...so they can defend themselves and we can't? Is the argument that if they have gone into government they are trustworthy? How about that candidiate for some state government position (can't remember what) who not too long ago shot the man who was elected to the seat? And with all the bad stuff politicians get themselves into, do we really think they are more responsible than we are?

So Todd, move to NH...the more the merrier! :D Join the legally carrying crowd (in NH it is legal for anyone to carry in the open, so even if you come here for a visit from out of state you can carry...same in VT....and if you apply for a permit you will be able to carry concealed). We'd love to have ya. :D

Hailey, my Kimber is also the Ultra Carry model, in stainless steel. The accuracy, reliability, and ease of handling is amazing. I have carried and used handguns for over 20 years and own quite a few of them. The Kimber impresses me more than anything yet!

Kimber products come out of the box with most all of the "custom" features that used to require a good gunsmith and plenty of $$$. This is what attracted me to the brand in the first place. My Stainless Ultra Carry lists for a little over $900, but was purchased new for $669. In the past, one would have to buy a Colt for about the same $$, and pay a gunsmith $1500+ to add all the goodies standard with the Kimber. This is possible because Kimber uses CNC and ultramodern gauging technology, while Colt uses machines older than dirt.
The only "custom" features on my .45 are "double diamond" rosewood grips and superior Chip McCormick magazines.
I am almost 45, with aging eyes, and can shoot a group at 25 yards no larger than a silver dollar! The Kimber is the most accurate handgun I have ever owned, with a 3" barrel to boot! One can only imagine what the longer barrel Kimber models can do.
And, no, I don't work for Kimber- I just believe in the product.
If you are in the market, Kimber will not disappoint.......

I live north of the border and hand guns are *ahem* discouraged, however, recently I have taken a small interest in them. Simple because some are so passionate about them. I was informed that a new custom Kimber Ultra Carry is very spendy, you can get em used for $700 US clams but the new ones are like $1100...sheez
