Default Running Issues With A Caliver 2001 Caliver

One of my co-workers is having a "when I stop at the light, the transmission slips out of gear, and the engine revs quite high and then the car dies" and it'll also do it while he is driving it. He told me that he will stop the car, fully shut off the ignition, start it back up and it'll be fine. When the car dies, the radio, fan, and everything else stays running. Any Ideas?
