Default So... Where'* the ford guys?

Somehow or another my brother is a Mustang lover. I don't know what happened. He'* found a '00 V6 that he wants, I'm supposed to go bless it Sunday afternoon. Wtf am I looking for? These things do anything stupid? Headgaskets?

I assume it'* a slushbox so I'm guessing it'* not too fast. Which is good, He put my Bonneville off the course so much at AutoX I almost got kicked off the track.

Here'* everything I know so far:
2000 V6 Coupe, Pull-Me-Over Red, 90K on the clock, and a sound system that is "badass". True duals, Hi-Flow cat, some sort of "performance" tires...

Here'* the kicker, The guy told him $7K. It'* not getting my blessing for over $5k. Ever. Now remember, If I bless this thing, I'm also the mechanic that has to fix the f'n thing, So please tell me if there'* anything I really don't want to fix. I'm trying to read mustangforums.com but It'* a little slow going.

Is that the old Ford 3.8 V6 that was in the T-Birds and Tauruses? If so, they were TOTAL headgasket monsters.

I believe they are known for head gasket issues. MyLittleBlackBird had to do head gaskets on his old '94 V6 T-Bird, and it had a 3.8. I believe it'* still the same basic engine. I could be wrong, though.

Hmm, I'm finding that the heads changed in '99, And I haven't heard anything about them after that.

On the Ford 3.8 they sure do. Usually the application Lincoln or van made life difficult to work on the motor. Add the Ford factor and you've got a couple of enjoyable days.

Two days? that'* with machine time right.... please?

He left a note that the guy would bring the car by Saturday to put it on the lift and check it out entirely... He seems pretty excited about it.
