Project 2.8 87 camaro to 302 or 350?

My friend bought a camaro 2 days ago and he wants to drop a 302 or a 350 in it it has a poopie 2.8l with automatic od tranny this car still has alittle bit of power it can burn rubber in reverse lol but ya would this involve alot of modification to the car to do this.......... I figure a 302 would be easier but I dont know his camaro has 145k miles on it and the engine iis funky it looks tight as all heck tho he would have to put a new tranny in there my guess would be also right? I figure a rear wheel car would be easier than a FWD car

I'm willing to bet that a camaro forum would answer best.

My answer is that if it's made outta steel, it can be modified or changed in any way with enough fire. :uptosomething:

350. Don't cheap it out, and build her from scratch.

Don't waste your time ona 302! A 350 is a wiser choice! They are both a 4 bolt main and will bolt up to the Camaro with little modification. I had a 302 in my 79 ElCameno and it gave me nothing but trouble. Switched to a 350 and uped the value and the horse power! Stick to the 350!

305 will bolt right onto that tranny, 350 will not...

Poopy slow + Redneck Illinois Style = 305

I guess I'm the best to answer this on here. Look in his local papers and E-bay get a TPI set up for it. He can go 305 or 350. Of course why go small? It will accept mild to hard core engs. The set up are cheap now adays. www.3rdgen.org is a great tech site for f-bodys.
