Default Time For A New Video Camera

Well, my old high 8 video camera finally bit the dust. It was only 4 years old but if it was a car it'd have 300K on it. I want a digital video camera that I can transfer my high 8 tapes over to. Or is there a camera that is both digital and high 8? I want one that I can put videos on the computer too. Any thoughts on what I should get? Reliability, video quality, night vision, and battery life are all things I look for as well.

Same here. I have a Kodak Easyshare CX6200. But, I don't have nightvision either.

My video capability is pretty good space wise....good resolution.

The bigger the memory stick I have the more I can record.

I love haveing the memory stick too because my new PC has the top 10 card readers built into the front of it.

No cables no nothing.....Just pop the stick out, plug it in and my pics down load

I agree. Don and I both have the DSC-W5 now. With half-gig cards, it shoots better vid than your old Hi-8. Easy transfer, too.

The W5 has the largest LCD preview on the market, and has a good low-light function.

Oh, and my camera holds 14 pics and 15mins without a card. I don't know what all cards are available, seeing as I'm to broke to even look for one.

Depending on what car your cam takes, I've seen all the way up to 2 GB cards for my Cybershot....

Night shot isn't that important. Transfering the high 8s is. I have no clue on how to go about transfering them though. How is it done?
