Pretty sure ive been scammed, what do i do?

Sooo a long time ago i picked up between 35-40 non working car amps, was told about a guy a few hours away that repairs amps, so i contacted him.

He came and picked them all up i said i only wanted about 7 or so fixed and returned and he could keep the rest, which he was more than happy with. He also took a few head units and a couple subs that needed fixin.
It was hell keeping intouch with him, after several months i got most of the amps back. however he still has 4 amps, my HU's and a sub of mine.

If i trick him and call him from a # he doesnt recognise he answers sometimes, and gives me a lame excuse like waiting on parts, should be here tomarrow, ill call u in two days to update you. and i never hear from him until i trick him again and he gives me the same excuse.

Then today I found this!

what do i do?

Uh, chalk it up as a loss or drive out to wherever he is and "have a talk" with him

Danthurs 03-31-2011 10:06 PM

Do you know where he lives? Show up, say Hi, I'm here to collect my property.

raptor660 03-31-2011 10:11 PM

but what r the legalities of just showing up at his place? I do have his address, but if i drive all that way can he just say no, and if cops get involved, i dont have proof, so i will have to drive back empty handed with an empty gas tank.

Im not chalking it up as a loose, he has over $1000 of my property.
he has my:
Eclipse XA1000 amp
Memphis 16 prd1000.1d
Kenwood eXcelon KAC-X1r
Alpine Type R
Cerwin Vega HED
Pioneer Premier HU
TMA 500/1
ect

Not having proof of ownership is going to be a problem. About all you can hope for is he caves and doesn't call your bluff if you say you will have to contact a lawyer.

Maybe if you take those 4 marines (from another post) with you when you go see him the results may be in your favour.

sseidriver97 03-31-2011 11:08 PM

Hmm...Or just one reallllly big friend of yours and couple of his big friends...They should be able to get em back no problem

Read thru those thread pages Steve. Sounds like he's a busy guy and dealing dirty ever chance he gets....... Not much to do legally. We don't need to help out or give anybody proof you would do otherwise..........But it's certainly seems your going to have to be awfully creative to get anything back. Most guys like this disappear into the woodwork and reappear in a different forum.

That would be "loss"....but how would you be able to prove that you own said equipment?
