Pontiac Bonneville vs. Toyota Matrix (pics, good luck 56k!)

I just found out the hard way that the Bonneville wins. Some lady took a left turn right in front of my car. I managed to consolidate the damage to the drivers side, but I totally obliterated the other cars front end. I guess that's what she gets for messing with American muscle :? and not checking traffic. Good thing I swirved to avoid the passenger cab because her kid is where I would have hit if I didn't. Pics coming soon.

gojo83 10-16-2006 09:36 PM

I hate dumb people who can't drive I have nearly been hit several times by mostly highschoolers

bonnie94ssei 10-16-2006 09:38 PM

That stinks. Sorry to hear, and glad you're ok. I rear-ended a Vibe (basically the same car) years back with my first Bonne. I was going very slow but still managed to do $2600 in damage to my car and absolutley none to hers. Good thing I didn't though.

chr0mius 10-16-2006 11:01 PM

I'm worried that the damage to the front end might be enough to total it. You know how insurance companies are. :-\ The car is worth well more (to me) than the insurance company will pay to have it repaired. Hopefully the repairs aren't that much, because I would have a hard time parting with this car. Mechanically everything is fine, the hood is bent, the bumper is severely damaged, the driver side front fender is bent, and the light is toast, as well as the fog light, and the metal behind the bumper seems to be bent. I know I'd be sticking with a Pontiac in a new car, but I really just want mine back on the road.

harofreak00 10-16-2006 11:03 PM

well then, buy the car back after they total it out and get some junkyard parts on her! good as new with the same old heart! :)

sorry to hear about your accident though

It may be enough to total it but it sounds mostly cosmetic. You can settle the claim and retain the car. They will just take off the salvage amount from your settlement. When Jeff totalled his 94 we kept the car and had more than enough to fix it and have some left over for extra mods ;)

I don't want to perpetuate racial stereotypes but it was an asian. :o She couldn't speak english very well, said something about the light being green (no traffic light for a block in either direction) so I know she didn't know what was up. Traffic officer said that it was her fault, obviously. I can't stop worrying about my baby. :( Now I'm stuck with some crappy 00' Camry that my parents kept around, luckily they were nice enough to drive it up here for me. It makes me miss my car a lot. Also, when someone backed up into my Bonnie and it was in the shop, I got rearended with this Camry. That was the same day I got laid off. It really comes all at once for me. Hopefully I won't get a repeat this time. :?

BillBoost37 10-17-2006 06:54 AM

Let's forget what nationality she was. I prefer stupid girl...lol ;)

gojosgirl 10-17-2006 02:00 PM

Well I dunno if this helps any.... doubt it, but I have only been in Wyoming a few months and I am from Texas. I had to go to the dmv to get my drivers license changed for the state of Wy. Well this one girl who was ahead of me was only 16 yrs old. Her mom pretty much tried to bribe the person who gave the girl her driving test to pass her. The dmv person said loud and clear where several people could hear, that he shouldnt pass the girl because her turns were to wide, she didnt know how to go the speed limit, and she doesnt pay attention to signs and need i go on???? Anyways, I mumbled that this was BS because if she cant pass a simple driving test she doesnt need to be driving. They went ahead and passed her unfortuneately. :x My point is, its not just old people, its not just young people. But its stupid people who never knew how to drive to begin with. And the dumb dmv's who go ahead and pass them because they dont want to deal with the kid or the parents. And you wonder why some people suck at driving? Also the girl that rearended me not to long ago was only 18 yrs old. just out of high school. That was her 5th freakin wreck! and this time she nearly killed someone .. ME! Ther are less older people who have wrecks than the ones who try to be cool, and just got their license or havent been driving long at all. Its honestly stupid. I could go on and on about all this but it would be pointless because it honestly doesn't matter what you say, do or wherever you go, there is ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS going to be someone stupid who doesnt know how to drive and who doesnt care. :bdead: And thats why a lot of innocent people end up badly injured, or dead! and they didn't even deserve it to begin with... Ok im done.

GreenMachine98 10-17-2006 03:41 PM

sorry to hear about your car man... hopfully it works out for the best. but hey im in the same import driving boat that you are while my bonnie is in the shop ;)

chr0mius 10-17-2006 04:43 PM

The damage is mostly cosmetic, but there is damage to the radiator and the big metal piece in the front that holds the lights (excuse my big car terms 8) ). I'm trying to think positively and hope the insurance won't try and total it out but I know I can't deal with car troubles at the moment, with how busy I am. If it comes down to it and I have to total it, I will definately cut everyone on BC a deal on any parts I can salvage first. That's my last alternative, though...I can put in a bit of money to have it repaired if I need to. Hopefully this can work out, that car is not done yet. It's a shame what insurance companies do. For the money they will give me for my car, I could never find a replacement even near the same level. It's not even been a full day and I already miss driving her. :(
I have a stiff neck, if I don't get enough money, maybe the neck problems will develop into something worse. (joking, of course)

Someone let me drive your Bonnie for a few weeks, I'll give you beer!

Oh I like Budweiser :P

where's the pics?

popatim 10-17-2006 06:14 PM

Like they said, you'll get more than enought to fix her up with yard parts and a fresh paintjob. I just went thru mostly the same parts on my wifes car (minus the fender) and got it all at the yard for $100 even with some extra parts thrown in.

I'd love to drive your car for a while! Pics are coming, all I had was my Nikon SLR camera so I had to get the photos developed, I promise I'll post them by 5:00 PDT. You're going to be seeing some quality prints with my amazing use of aperture and shudder speed! Lady is lucky she didnt break my camera or PSP.

Echo SSEI 10-17-2006 06:57 PM

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. It is obvious that you care a lot about your Bonne.

If you end up needing/wanting to fix it yourself, I have the '97 FSMs and would do what I can to help guide you. Also, when the decision comes, I can keep my eyes open at the local yards here for parts.

I sent you a PM. ;)

I know. :(
Picture time! You can get all the ones I scanned here:

She couldn't move her car...just to note, she was facing more towards my direction, so she pretty much made a 90 degree rotation there.
http://www.trojanmen.com/pictures/caraccident/10.jpg
http://www.trojanmen.com/pictures/caraccident/2.jpg
The point of impact was that big dent on the front right, the rest of the damage was the car getting totally owned by the brute force of my Bonneville.
http://www.trojanmen.com/pictures/caraccident/4.jpg
I somehow damaged the completely opposite side.

I definitely know what you mean by that. I know this girl Angela, she is 17 like me and I tell yah, that girl CANNOT drive!!! She has had a total of 10 accidents! She has hit 4 deer, hit 2 parked cars, sideswiped 2 cars while pulling on to the highway  (how hard is merging onto the highway?), and rearended 2 people. She has only had her license for a year and a half and already had it suspended. :? She JUST recently got it back. Her insurance is $2,340 (6 months). And her parents still pay it. She does not work. She just barely scraped out of highschool...

She has totalled 6 cars. She gets another one everytime she kills one.

And heres me, I drive really well, (by opinion of almost everyone I know, young and old) and I have to pay my own gas and my own insurance, and I drive an old car, and if I did crash it, i wouldnt get another one, I would walk. Boy...that just isint fair.

but anyways, that damage looks pretty bad...is the header bent? looks good as long as all the mounts and everything are ok. just run over to a junkyard and grab some parts. you should be good.

good luck!!!
