The only thin I would worry about is the sound quality out of the center channle and possible damage to it. It won't hurt the reciever but the speacker itself being on differnt oms my not perform at max potential. In short you could blow the center channle but you reciever will be fine in my experiance.

I think he'* saying the reciever is 8ohms and the speaker is 6ohms. The reciever can definatly handle it but how about the speaker. I think it would to a certain point but 8o to 8o is going to be better overall than 8o to 6o for sound quality.

Good choice
You should be able to find a good Yamaha centre channel speaker and have it work fine with your Sony receiver..or bite the bullet and go Yamaha all the way

it should be fine and sound alright, i recently bought my second yamaha reciever and im as pleased with it as i am the first one yamaha is good equipment, and from what i understand, droping the ohms increases power so if u set ur levels right u should be fine

those are like mine except mine have one woofer(didnt have the ones with 2 at best buy when i bought them wish they did) see pic of my system
i want all yamaha speakers cuz i love how they sound, i might switch to a yamaha reciever also. so i should be fine with the 6 ohm and all i got to do is turn down the center channel lvl on the reciever.
