Default BonnevilleClub Reflections...A New Page

I have been an active member on this website for quite a long time now, I have moved up thru the ranks and have loved every second of it. I know why I am so excited about this site, about these vehicles, about these people...but this is not about me, its about us, its about....Bonneville Club

This site has been known to all of its members as a friendly, family oriented site, laid back and fun yet an informative place to be. However lately there have been a few problems, as some of you may have noticed we have had to implement a lot of harsh changes. Changes based on some events that should have been minor and yet got blown a little to out of proportion. Its not the first time its happened and for sure it wont be the last.

The Site owner has asked his Staff increase in numbers, certain members have been promoted to recognize their skills, we have introduced a new moderator a while back, and another one on the way. For recongition of our vehicles we have created Car of Month and there is a lot of excitement about BonnevilleFest planned for July 21-25 and yet, something is not quite right.

Many members have approached me, offline, and have stated a deep concern for the direction of this group. Naming particulars is not the goal of this post, however I want this to be an eye opener for all of us here.

Everything we say, share, comment on and contribute is unique, I have noticed a sharp decline in the lack of respect amongst the members. Everyone here is an equal, the goals should be to share, learn, advise and yes, laugh and joke around, thats what makes our community here dynamic and vibrant. We all have something special that is important to us, the freedom of speech, knowledge and opinion, thusly it should be respected. I would like to see a little more tact shown especiallly amongst the members, respect is the name of the game. Lets get rid of the nit-picking, the pandering and the know-it-allism that I see polluting a lot of threads lately. There is a feeling of frustration amongs the members and I don't want to see it come to long standing members leaving us due to that frustration

We all have something to add, something to say, but exercise caution in what you say and contribute in a postive manner. I don't mean sit around the campfire, hold hands and sing Kumbaya, but pretend you are talking to a person sitting next to you. Think about what you want to get across before you type it in and hit submit.

Please bear this in mind from here on in

And if anyone has anything constructive to add please do, I want to hear what your thoughts are on this. If you have any concerns, the Staff is always available to hear you out. Despite some of the comments laid out in the past, this is not a dictatorship, we are all in this together, so lets focus on getting back on track and start recognizing that we have something great here and lets not lose our way.

Have at it BonnevilleClub.

Thanks for reading

JW

From the bottom of my heart, thank you Jim. I love Bonneville Club, and I want it to remain a part of my life. If we all stick together and show a little decency, we can make this club even better.

This has been one site that I don't think is as good of an atmosphere as any, and it'* certainly unique that has lacks rules but yet stern enough to keep most in line to make this enjoyable to ALL

Jim....are you feeling alright? Acting a little weird tonight with all this patronizing and mooshy stuff.
Whenever you get on MSN, i'll tell you what I was going to say here, but didn't for the "dispite all comments laid out in the past" quote...um...well things that happen in the past is what marks the future! haha
so until then

Jim & Christy I agree with what both of you have to say. This is a great place to be and fellowship with other Bonnie lovers and have a vast amount of wisdom at your fingertips. It is like a family and respect should be number one.

Once in a while when we lose our way its important that we remember to get ourselves back on the provebial road.

Regardless whether you agree with me or not, most members take this place seriously and its critical we continue to respect one another. Not only does it encourage us but it reflects well on new members and makes us feel good about this place.

And of course, one day when we rule the world, we can have the big international meet
