Test Drove GP GXP
So my friend and I walk up to the local Pontiac dealor and ask to look at a GP GXP. So he finds one and pulls it up. He asks for our licences and gives us the keys and says, "have fun". I always thought the dealor came with for a new car test drive, guess not. Anyways, the car was dark red with graphite leather. It had 75 miles on it.
Pros:
-the controls, DIC, and NAV are all facing the driver and easy to reach.
-the seats fit my 6-2 240lb a$$ perfectly. Perfect lateral support. I could sleep in those seats.
-smoothest and quietest idle i've ever felt and heard or should I say not heard.
- awesome rumble of the exhaust and very deep tone
- g-force gauge and trans temp gauge I like on the DIC
-excellent acceleration after 75mph.
- almost unnoticable cylinder deactivation at cruising
Cons:
-noisy moonroof motor
-torque management plagues this car worse than my Olds leading to anemic downshifts and lag in initial power
-bogs like stock L67 at the bottom of 2nd gear, refer to point above
-a little cramped in the back seat
-tap shift is useless unless you keep it floored. If you take your foot off the gas in second it will not hold second, it will upshift into fourth and stay there.
To be honest its an awesome road trip car. The nice seats and low rumble are a combo that make you want to keep driving the car.

Heh, when I test drove one, the guy did the same thing; just give me the keys. I didn't worry about all the shortcomings, I just floored it and enjoyed the AWESOME punch of the LS4

Everytime I've test drivin a car from a dealer I make sure the traction button is turned off, and yes I give it WOT right after leaving the parking lot. usually the salesmen are cool with it anyway. I point out I'm testing the supercharger to make sure its working properly.
