Question 2014 Summer- How Hot Has It Been For You?

Here on the west coast of Canada.. darn dry and Hot. In Kelowna BC it was 93F today.
Hasn't rained here in weeks...lightning has caused major forest fires everywhere!
Some forecasts now contain the words smoke...air quality index is poor in many areas.
Our province has basically ran out of available fighter resources across Canada and has now called in a specialized team from Australia....

I hear just south of the border in Washington State lots of forest fires are burning there too!
We are going to get some showers in the next 2 days but I doubt it will help much if it is accompanied by more lightning.
The good news is that with it being so warm out, I have certainly consumed more beer than normal.

Have you had a hot summer in your area?

has been cold and wet here, normally it gets dry enough i can mow once every two weeks, i have to mow once a week this whole summer and it boggs the mower down every time. farmers love it, the corn around here is taller than me. its beating up my tractor though and i had to mow with my rhino a couple times to knock it down, because its like a wet sponge

Not what I expected to hear Justin. Are those rain events coming up from the south or mid west?
I am glad to hear our updated forecast includes rain or showers for the next 5 days and finally a lot cooler than in the 90'*!
Looking outside right now...ah I think we are in for a solid Thunderstorm tonight...hopefully with lots of rain ..we really need it!
I was going to go to Okanagan Lake but...looks like this Fr-Sat is going to be wet.
Hey but summer is not over yet....

We have had a lot of rain around here lately, coming from the SW mainly, one storm I think came from the NW.
It was so cloudy last night I did not get to enjoy the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, I was able to see 1 meteor this morning right before it the sun started to rise.
Not going to get over 79F here today, it is 66F right now.

Sounds like summer for many eastern areas is wetter & cooler than normal...
and here I was thinking that it was a hot summer across the country !
Today our temps really cooled off with some showers..Thank You rain clouds, what a relief!
1:45 pm and now our current temp is 61 F ...ahhh..high today maybe 70F..finally!
My hydro bill is going to be super high as have been running the AC 24/7 for 2+ months now.
Fri & Sat looks like it'* staying cooler & in for more rain..I sure hope so!

Been a mild summer here in upstate NY. Rain once a week maybe. The high for this year was about 90 for a day and that was it. 70-80'* all summer.

This weather I can deal with.

That definitely sounds like a good summer there Mike!
There is no grass here as it all looks like hay.
The lack of rain and smoke in atmosphere from fires is most disturbing.
During the full moon here there was a haze all around the moon of solid brown rings.

So yesterday (Wed) major flooding going on in New England/Long Island etc..
Oh Wow ..13 inches of rain overnight !!!
Wet Wednesday: Flooding rain swamps Northeast
That is really something else..!

It'* been so hot here that I had to wait two days before I could post a response

Hit 104 the other day and have days of over 100 for the next five. Even with the A/C on (with the fans), the Bonnie must have hit 230 on Friday. Can't get the bike out either, it'* just too dang hot.

^ Yup .. now that is HOT.
Could have used the 230 under hood temps to prepare some sausages, wrapped in tinfoil
