Enable Sound
All of a sudden the speakers on my computer decided they no longer want to work. I checked all conections and they are good. The light is on, on the speakers so I know they are fine. There must be something in the control panel to enable them. I don't know why they arn't working, they where fine yesterday. :? The computer is a Hp pavilion a282n with Windows XP Home.

go to start>settings>control panel and then "sounds and audio devices"
check to make sure it isnt muted and that its turned up on the first tab.
check the speaker volume on the first tab, as well as the advanced settings to make sure the right type of speakers are selected.
then head over to the audio tab and check the settings there as well.
do you have a sound card or are you using onboard sound?
