I dont forget the keys, I purposely leave them under my sear so they aren't in my pocket, or banging off m belt. It'* the stupid autolock feature that did me in. I since have it off with both sets.

Bluetooth or whatever, it'* far easier to just hit a button on my rear view mirror to make a call and having it pipe through the sound system to me is awesomely superior to anything else.

You sound like facebookers with the 4th amendment clause. OnStar and FB are not government, they are private Enterprise the Gov has no business in whatsoever. Don't like the terms of either.... just dont use it. I love how people (not pointing a finger at you) get rights in public and rights within a corporate structure mixed up. Sick and Tired of people trying to force Government to protect them (and clean their diapers) throughout the business world. If it'* all about "freedom" then why are so many liberals constantly trying to get the Gov to dismantle Free Enterprise. Capitalism is the basis for democracy. Some seem to forget that.

I agree, Government and Enterprise are different. Only problem is, Enterprise/Corporations pretty much own the Government.

This is why there are grey areas. Stuff that'* on FB (or anywhere else on the internet) can be given/sold to them. Same thing with OnStar. They say that they're just using it for "studies", but they could give/sell it to the Gov.

I don't give a crap what their guise is, they aren't tracking me.

At least they did it above board, I got a full detailed notice about it weeks ago as a subscriber. And we do have the choice of not using the service and even gutting GPS. One other thing I like is theft recovery.

What irks me is people that do think they have the right to use corporate services and/or internet services (like ours) and think they "rights". You have the right to not use them, or in our case.... not be here. As a few who have gotten under our skin came to find out.

I fully understand that if I want to use somebodies service, than I also subscribe to their terms of use.

However, if I buy a new GM OnStar comes with it. Standard. That'* not an option anymore. It also comes pre-activated. That means they are taking my choice out of the matter. I can promise you that a dealer may take the OnStar stuff out for you when you buy new, but they'll charge you to do so.

That'* shitty business if you ask me.

What does seem a "foul" to me is that millions of second hand owners will not have a clue they are still in GM'* tracking eye. But how many will GM actually know the Identity? I don't believe it'* a Identity thing anyway. They want to compile raw data and resell it. And GM isn't alone of this. All manufacturers are falling in line to provide OnStar similar services.

we dont need to rely on onstar anyway.. we've been driving vehicles for YEARS we dont need to pay a subscription when you most likely have a phone on you anyway... **** ive pushed my car out of the ditch in the middle of winter enough times and never needed a computer to call for help..
