Absolutely!

The Great Blackout of 2003, happened on August 14th. A power surge at an Ohio power plant forced a cascade shutdown of the power grid along the eastern seaboard.

It was an interesting night, no lights, no electrical humming, and stars...wow, the night sky was a lot different without that city "glow"

Go Ohio!!! WOOT! It's funny because eveyone first blamed Canada about the whole blackout...

Yeah, that part was nice. What pissed me off though was that my neighbors, just down the block from where I live, got their power back at 7PM. My area didn't get the AC(and the A/C) back until 5AM the next morning. It was a warm night and the house was too hot to get a good nights rest.

There was alot of activity here that night, just talking about it and figuring out who it affected.

it sucked for me because I was at work in a restaurant and the power shut off and we had to hurry and take care of all the food, seal the walk-in-cooler, etc. Oh, and the alarm started going off and couldn't be shut off because of a malfunction. :( Great fun.. riiight. lol.

Its a shame that we need a blackout to find that "quality" time :?

I say once a year, we just shut er down for a night....heh, never gonna happen so I'll just wait for the next blackout.
