Yeah itd probably be better just to get a mouse. You'd probably have to take the upper plate and keyboard off to change any of that, and depending on the frame of the laptop thats pretty hard and a whole lot of screws. If its just the button, you can see if you can get to them through the battery bay and see if you can fit some new padding under it (really soft spongy stuff)

I've never met a PC touchpad that I've really liked. Still, most touchpads are built into the top case, which usually isn't too difficult to swap if you have tiny screwdrivers.
