Okay, so no SSEi, but here's the plan...

So my SSEi deal fell through so this is what I'm planning on right now.

Keep the SLE as a daily driver and cruiser and buy a 100,000+ fox 5.0 'stang this summer for a weekend playtoy. I think that'll work becuase the 5.0's are dirt cheap and the 302 is a very reliable motor.

Opinions? :)

LittleHoov 02-17-2006 12:38 PM

thats a good engine with plenty of punch and like you said a good reputation for reliability.

not to mention an aftermarket that blows the mind.

VigCS 02-17-2006 12:41 PM

Very easy to find them, too. SSEi's are sooooo hard to find.

zepployd44 02-17-2006 12:45 PM

those mustangs are expensive though compared to our bonnevilles

BillBoost37 02-17-2006 12:49 PM

Only thing I have to add is enjoy talking to the cops. Those cars attract much more attention than a granny car.

VigCS 02-17-2006 12:51 PM

No, not really.

89 GT Hatchback, 115k, $4000 obo

Bill: Oh well, I need that V8 rumble. :)

I'm just unsure of how much insurance would be on one.

LittleHoov 02-17-2006 01:20 PM

thats not a bad price considering the mods i suppose, although the ad says 4000, so you might want to offer them that instead of 4500 :D

good specs on it though from msn:

4.9l V8 with 225hp/300ft. lbs of torque and a curb weight of 3194. oughta move pretty good, i dont know what kind of gearing they have though. plus the mods on it should liven it up a bit as well.

VigCS 02-17-2006 02:32 PM

haha, I was looking at another ad that was $4500...

Anyway, most of them have 3.51 gears...I'm willing to bet it's quick :)

fantastic88 02-17-2006 02:38 PM

Just make sure its a manual. Autos are slow as in high 15's@ 89mph. The manuals usually run low 15s maybe high 14s about like an SSEi. $4500 for a 89' Ford with 115K?!? I'd look in the $2000 range for Mustangs from that year.

What do you plan for this car? Do you want a car for just cruising around in, or a track car, or what? I guess I can't really comment on your choice until I know what you want to do with it. :D

fantastic88 02-17-2006 05:52 PM

I'm not a Ford basher, as I think they are nice quality dependible vehicles. However, they have a track record for being kinda underpowered, unrefined, and are maintenience needy vehicles. I for one am not a Mustang fan. They are a dime a dozen and are underpowered for a sports car. The Camero and Trans Am always exceeded the Mustang in performance tests for each given year. With that said, if you really want a sports coupe get a Firebird or a Camero with an LT-1.

Nah, I really don't. I don't want any type of supra...sorry repins =(

You want a 1989 vehicle?

Why do you want to go so far back in time? You are already driving a 1997 car. Even for a toy car, sounds like you are asking for trouble with a vehicle of that age.

VigCS 02-17-2006 11:04 PM

I didn't say I want that car, thats just the kind fo stang I'll be looking for.

Two words... Ford Explorer. I've never allowed a Ford in the family until my wife insisted on gettin' a fancy Explorer. It has more miles going up and down on the lift, than on the odometer. We used to have to visit it at the repairshop, just to remember what it looked like. Fo rthe amount of time we use it, it would have been more cost effective to pay for daily rentals.

My wife is in insurance, check with your agent. Age, where you live, your own policy, or your parents etc determine the insurance. it could end up being a chunk of change considering a V8 with 2doors....

Drivin' me nuts that other areas have SSEi's laying all over the place.

Fieroflyer 02-18-2006 12:04 PM

Want a nice cruising car get a 84 to 87 Fiero and put a 3800SC in her, walk all over even heavily modded Mustangs eat GTP's and make your Bonneville feel like granpa should be driving her. I like Mustangs for straight off the dealers lot they were pretty quick just too many around for my taste. I did a V6 to V8 swap into a nice 94 Mustang for a friend last year that works really nice. Main problem with Mustangs is insurance some companies won't even touch younger drivers with one. Dan
