Why are CARDONE new cv axles less expensive than CARDONE remanufactured CV axles?
Need to purchase of set of CV axles. I have used CARDONE remanufactured in the past, and they worked out good. I am on RockAuto to buy another set, and noticed the same axle new is a little cheaper than the remanufactured. And the remanufactured requires shipping back of the old core.
Any thoughts on how this can be? I recall they remaufactured their cv axles in Mexico, and I assume the new axles likely from China.

There also may be an instance where a supplier is trying to liquidate stock. Usually new is more expensive then reman, and is harder to sell.
Also, keep in mind, you get what you pay for.

For the CARDONE CV Axles, they are the same company. The new and remanufactured are actually they same price, but there is a core deposit on the remanufactured of $100 per axle, no core charge and nothing to return if buying new.
Outlay for new CARDONE axles (left and right) $45 X2 + $20 shipping= $110
Outlay for remanufactured axles (left and right) $45 X2, +40 shipping (have to send back old), plus core $100 x2= $330... (200 will get returned when cores are received).
Why would someone lay out $330 for remanufactured (really $130 when extra actions are completed) when you can get hassle free for $110? There must be a reason......

We have seen problems with certain new axles in certain cars. Just do a good visual inspection.
I have seen more than 1 new Subaru axle tear up after a very short time. I can't comment on other vehicles yet.
