Not A Good Day

I've been feeling pretty sh*%ty lately and have been feeling like snapping at anytime. Well today it happed. My friend (boss) was putting a wheely in the back of the 2003 GMC Sierra. The wheely feel on my hand triggering me to go ape sh*t on the wheely. The bad part is I took one last blow and it was at the truck. Not knowing that I caused damage I walked away. When I came back my friend said "nice dent you left". I looked over and sure as sh*t a huge dent in the rear quarter panel just above the wheel well.

He wasn't mad but I do have to pay for the repair. How much you think it'll run me? I'm thinking pretty close to a grand. I thought that HD trucks had hevier guage sheet medal. It looks like someone lobbed a baseball at it. Should I have my insurance company pay for it or what? I felt bad about it too since they never do anything bad to me.

O.K you're all scared to tell me its going to be over 2K huh. There is the end of my summer. My life sucks. 8)

Anger Management?

SSE14U24ME 07-15-2005 11:26 PM

I doubt if your insurance would pay for it since you weren't in a vehicle. And to state the obvious.... What was gained from your outburst? You need to try and get your temper in check.

I know. I couldn't believe it. With my fist of all things! It was on a bend of the sheet medal as well. Its one of the stronger poinits?!? Does GM not know how to make a strong pickup.

Its a GM truck, what do you expect. Nice punch though, its more of a form then pure power to dent something like that. Punch through, not at

Get your normal house hold plunger and go to town. Good way to remove dents from large areas. Dented the bed of my truck once and used a plunger to get the worst of it out. Works pretty well.

And no the HD's don't have any different body construction than a S-10. You can buckle those sides by just leaning against it. U must have clocked it pretty good though, I've kicked my truck before and just leave foot prints on it :? ...LOL

What's the big deal. It's a work truck, now it looks like one....

agreed 100%... dents are going to happen on a work truck

gm4life 07-16-2005 02:47 PM

True but his luck its no work truck its prolly like an SLT with the Duramax and leather seats and 6 disc cd changer! Good luck sorry to hear that bad news I have days like that, but I hit my bed!

MOS95B 07-16-2005 04:16 PM

Let me expand my previous statement. I don't condone what happened, and feel that some responsibilty should be there for the actions. But, if your boss is using his "trophy" truck as a work truck, he's kind of an idiot. I worked contruction for many years, and one of the first things you learn is "Don't bring nice things to a work site"....

If I were in his place, I'd probably chew you out for losing it and then move on....

fantastic88 07-16-2005 04:33 PM

The truck is his daily driver. It is the family truck, work truck, and truck for when he goes on calls for new customers. I don't think a plunger would work. Its on a bend in the sheet medal. Do any of you Mn guys know of a cheap body shop and how much this will cost me?

Hailey 07-16-2005 04:58 PM

Ooh...that sucks. I feel your pain as I have damaged things that were important to me or others during outbursts too...I've learned not to do that anymore (costs too much :P ). A friend of mine did the same thing a few months ago to his 96 SLE...he was doing some brake repairs while simultaneously fighting with his fiance. He got frustrated and kicked his bonnie right behind the driver's side front wheel well. He left a huge dent (about 9" X 6" X 2" deep) with a nasty crease right through it so it can't be popped out. He even managed to damage the paint...see, it could be worse. ;)

How bad is it? We have a franchise around here in the Northeast called Dent Wizard. They go a great job at removing dents and dings. Is the paint damaged?

We have about 500 Dent Wizzard shops around the cities here.

There's places that fix dents without repainting/removing parts. There's one here that charges $75 per dent (not that that helps you). Maybe you'll get lucky and find a cheap place to fix it. If your boss is going to fix it he should find the cheapest place, although he does have the right to have it fixed to where it was before the dent, so I wouldn't blame him for not taking it to a crappy shop. Can't his insurance cover it though? Does he have comprehensive coverage? Maybe he could say it was vandalized? Possibly saving you money..?

That is called insurance fraud. That right there is just one of the reasons insurance premiums are so high. You did the "crime" so just fix it. We all have tempers and lost it occasionally but yours happened to damage property of others and you just need to take responsibility for your actions. I know you will do the right thing. Hopefully next time you lose your temper you will think twice before lashing out.

I don't think that it's a good idea to ever lie to an insurance company.. there would be hell to pay if the real truth came out. ;) You're better off to just suck it up and pay for the repairs out of your own pocket..

Hailey 07-17-2005 01:05 PM

I wholeheartedly agree (with Custom88 and SSE14U24ME). I don't exactly believe in karma or anything, but I do believe that, one way or another, dishonest actions will come back to bite you. It's better to just do the right thing even if it hurts.

Besides, there is such a lack of personal responsibility in this world. It is always nice to see someone take some responsibility for their own actions.
