Default non gm fwd Daily drivers MPG

Thought about posting this for a while and I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread. Unless I missed.

Figured we could start a thread with everyone who doesn't have a Daily driver that isn't a nice gas efficient (yet powerful) gm fwd platform. Post what ya drive and add any mods that have increased your gas mileage? Maybe another thread for GM fwd owners? Solid numbers please, math from gas receipts and odometer readings will be fine.

1991 Ford F150 std cab, long bed, 2wd, 300 I-6, 4 spd auto, 2.73 gears. (old light duty farm truck) for 1200$, owned it for 4 years. I don't like to drive nice things everyday, I don't cry over door dings, lol.

When I got the truck I did a complete tune up, plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Even knocked off the old muffler. Average Mileage went from 13 to 19 mpg. I do drive like a granny, this truck isn't a speed demon.

Soon I hope to get rid of the clutch fan, add a e-fan and install a tonneau cover. Weight reduction is in the air as well, buts that only if I decide to repaint the truck.

86 Monte Carlo SS with a race built 350 swapped in place of the stock 305. 305 got about 22 MPG while the 350 gets about 6. It will run 10'* though.

On our 2000 Exploder, I opened up the airbox and get 22mpg. On our Mustang GT, I put 3.73'*, off road X-pipe and an open element filter and get 24 mpg

Ive never heard that one, I know that its better to have the tailgate up. Where did you get the info?

Edit: Did some research and apparently covers dont really affect mileage, well scrap that idea...

Ya, when you move forward, the wind over the cab isn't really disrupted by the box. Covered or not, tailgate up or down, trucks have a blunt front end and little slant to windshield. the wind is still on an upward travel as it goes by the box. I have a heavy topper for my Ram3500 thats even with the roofline. Makes it looks like a dually version of the Ramcharger. I always figured I would get better mileage with it on. When I actually checked, it got worse mileage with the topper on. I assume because of it'* weight.

Our "other" car is the wife'* Prius. It gets 50/52 MPG off highway where the hybrid system can work, 44 MPG on the highway. No mods, LOL. But I have been thinking of how much better MPG I could get with an additional battery from a wrecked one fitted into the spare tire area would bring. The system brings the one to a full charge easily in our hilly area, and I bet additional storage would give some appreciable better MPG'*.

But the makers keep telling you that it will give you 10% mileage increase. LOL

I found on my Tacoma it did not change at all.
