No more contacts or glasses!
Had LASIK on 12/14 and am loving it. 20/20 the next morning and tested at 20/15 yesterday at a follow-up apptmt. Still have the nightime halos around headlights and streetlights but it's not too bad and will completely disappear they tell me. I highly recommend the procedure if you are sick of contacts like I was and have the means. Very odd waking up and being able to see!

Congrats!
This is something I've always wanted to do. But, I'm VERY protective of my eyes. I can't imagine being blind. One doctor's miscalculation and it could cost me what I value most. So.... What'd it cost ya? |
I'd be too paranoid about something going wrong. I think I'd rather continue with my contacts.
I'm glad it went well for you! |
I'd have already done it if my insurance paid more than $500 per eye. Considering what they pay for eyeglasses and contacts every year, you'd think they would want to cover it all (about $1500 per eye around here).
Most Lasik isn't doctor controlled per-se. It's pretty automated with lots of checks and feedback during the process. Very safe. |
I had lasik and the blade broke and shattered in my eye
|
Most modern LASIK procedures use a laser, not a blade. I suggest going that route.

I wanna see! Maybe I'll save my pennies and get Lasik in like 10 years

No more contacts
I found out last summer I had cataracts in both eyes. I had to quit driving my SSEi at night.I had lens implants put in both eyes in August and I am back cruisin' as often as I can . And you are right. It is nice to see again.

I had my eyes done in April 2001 and loving it :D (cost 2300 both eyes) My wife had hereyes done this year and she's very happy too. (cost 4600 both eyes) Her eyes were pretty bad compaired to mine, hence the cost difference. |
All they do is cut off some surface of your eye, and use a laser to create the proper concave surface to focus light. I would do it if my eyes weren't already perfect!
|
I had it done about a year and a half ago. $3200 for both eyes. Got a VHS of the procedure. Pretty cool. Seems to freak most ppl out though. The Simpsons makes me wonder though....the episode where Homer goes to the future and Ned has no eyeballs because doctors didn't know the long term affects of laser eye surgery. But seriously, I'm glad I did it. Took me a couple of mornings to stop reaching for my glasses though!

Nice nice! I've been thinking about getting it, but I believe you have to be over 25 or something like that I heard to get it and I'm only 19, 20 soon so I gotta wait..
