New Wheels hitting caliper problem, continued..

hey, today I purchased a 97 Lumina LS, and although it's not a 3800 I figured this was the place to go. that shouldn't matter in my question, though..

I put the universal fit 18 inch chrome calli wheels on her as soon as i got it home, and they fit perfectly on both of my bonneville's, but on the front 2 wheels on the chevy, the brake hits the rim. is there anything i can do? or any suggestions? lot of work to change all the wheels then realize this hoping someone has an idea. i can take a pic if someone needs to understand more what im talking about. quick help appreciated, thanks in advance!!

It depends on where they're hitting.

If it's a support bracket, you can lose ~5mm on id and be okay.

If it's on the caliper you can lose ~2mm and be okay.

caliper, yes, that's it i believe, pretty sure that's what i painted on my other car. so yeah the front two are hitting on the caliper. what do you mean lost 2? thanks much for the extremely quick reply!

Could try wheel spacers and push the rim out from the brake caliper?

Well if you sift through all of this you might find something?

You can do what i had to do on my car, take a grinder and grind down the part of the caliper that is rubbing, its got tons of metal and grinding it a little wont hurt it at all

i dont have a grinder, but thanks for the idea. rainy out today how sucky!

You don't have a handheld or a bench grinder accessable to you? If you do, take your caliper or caliper mounting bracket, and shave em down just a bit. Once you have it down enough, then smooth it out with the grinder.

Or... a dremel with a grinding or flap disc will work also. It'll just take 100x longer.
