I'm one of those hard to wake up people, But I'm working on it. I've never been able to buy an alarm loud enough to wake me... So I built one. And I used a car alarm siren. I tried it out this morning (I'm off work) and I actually don't remember hearing it. Just sitting up out of nowhere and frantically patting the nightstand for the snooze button.

It'* definatly a fun toy... I put it under the living room couch and set it to go off. Me and Anthony were playing MC3Dub and out of nowhere He dropped the controller and looked like He was gonna make a run for the door, That was funny.

So, what do you other hard to wake people do to get up in the morning?

Oh, It'* a $10 Wal-Mart alarm, with the original peizo wires extended outside the case going to the coil of a small relay which puts power to the coil of the larger relay. There'* a 120v/12v transformer tapped to the power cord leading to a rectifier and though the larger relay to the alarm siren. $22 at RadioShack for the transformer and some smaller supplies, small relay from inside a car alarm, large relay from the car alarm wiring, rectifier from a PC power supply, The alarm siren was mounted in the '93 when I bought it. It'* aboput 3X louder than the 108Db peizo I got at RadioShack.

I also have a very hard time waking up in the morning. And because of 2 6am classes in college I needed a solution. I used google to find a simple alarm clock that is run on the computer. This simple program (about 300kb) has 3 choices, it will make a beep (haven't used) play a sound file or open a program. So I picked a nice 58 minute techno song, set it for 6:15, left my computer on all night, and put the volume on my speakers a little over 1/2...and I'll be damned I scared the living **** out of myself and my roommate in the morning. But I did make it to class on time.

I do like the car alarm idea.

Today was a prime example of me not able to get up on my own. Had class at one in the afternoon, and didn't wake up until 12:45 when my friend called me. Considering it takes 10 minutes to walk to class to get there exactly on time, I was a bit rushed. Having 3 classes in a row with no shower beforehand sucks.

I wake up at my desired time... 5pm, like a bell. Now if I need to go to work or something I better have an alarm...
