Default WoW (for adults only, I think) <--not a joke

As a lot of you know, ok, maybe just a handful, haha, I work at a computer lab at my school. I just experienced something that touched me so deeply, it'* not even funny. This lady, around mid-twenties, maybe thirties, walks into my lab, and she randomly scoffed at this kid playing a video game. It made me quite curious, because normally, it'* common around here. She has a very potent smell of mary jane, but her story excuses it. She has two kids, not sure of their ages, but it seems like they have an uphill slope ahead of them. She was married, I'm guessing to a pretty nice guy, but just a few years ago, she started seeing less and less of him. He was so occupied that he just wouldn't do anything around the house. She ended up divorcing him, and sending the two kids into the pergatory that is child custody. Why did she divorce him, why did he not do anything with his time? The answer is simple, and please don't laugh when you hear this, because it'* very serious. World of Warcraft ruined this mans life. On myspace, I have this South Park episode that featured WoW, as it'* so commonly reffered to, that depicts children gaining vast amounts of weight, and ignoring all other tasks at hand, even school.
Folks, what is our world coming to? What happened? This moral degredation is killing our society. From WoW, to pornographic media, to violence, where do we go from here? This reason, and this reason alone, is why I'm changing my major. I want to help out our community in this sense, whether it'* by passing laws or just getting the word out, we've got to do something. Who'* with me?

I'm not familiar with WOW myself, but I think there are many things that people get caught up in, like MYSPACE, you mentioned it yourself using it. Just because some people try to use it for perverted things or get caught up in it to the point of ignoring responsibilities doesn't mean you do.
Regardless of the reasons, I think anyone who would not take care of their family is less than human
I do wish you the best in you endevor though

saying someone'* story excuses turning to drugs to cope, isn't that kind of like 2 wrongs make a right

Yeah, you're right, I just feel bad for her, you know? Kinda overlooked the smell...
And the only reason I got a myspace is because a lot of my friends have one, and they've pretty much forced me. I haven't seen anything vulgar on it yet, and I don't spend much time on it.

Morals are subjective. You only see things such as WoW and pornography as immoral compared to traditional definitions of "morals." But who is to say which version of "morals" is the right one? We are a constantly evolving society, so why do we cling to definitions created hundreds of years ago and try to apply them to a situation which was completely inconcieveable when these "morals" were defined? I for one do not see any of the things you listed as "immoral," rather choices which must be evaluated by the individual for the impact on his/her life.

Too True. I have seen this more than once, and I'm living with a very similar instance.
I myself have a myspace account, but I am on there for maybe 5 minutes every other week, just to send a quick hello to old friends and read messages from them.
My biggest obsession on the PC has been BC, but I know that is a little above and beyond gaming -something I haven't gotten into, nor do I feel an attraction to it at all.

Sounds like you've got the same plans I do. I went to tech college back in 98-00 for Computer Science/Telecomm.
For the past couple years I have been wanting to get back to college, but not knowing what for exactly.
Mechanical Engineering has had my eye for at least 2-3 years and now after a few friends of mine went to Tech college for it and having talked with them I have decided that'* what I'm gonna do.
I just got Catia V5 and am just starting to try it out, but it'* all french to me for now.
Hoping to start school in January if the course isn't full yet (hoping to get in there Friday to sign up).

Anyhow good luck with the switch..... Might hit you up for some pointers if I have ?'* with Catia.
