Need help guys/girls....Car stuff non-bonnie(TAKEN CARE OF!)

2000 GMC Chevy Astro Van. I hope someone here knows about them...

My mom has this vehicle and the igintion switch, either the one in the column or the actual key cylinder it self has gone bad. the guy at the auto store says its usually the column one that goes. My question is, how hard is it to do either one?! does anyone one have experience in doing this?!?! should I just go get a Haynes manual? also does anyone have pics of this vehicle or simliar??! :) thanks guys for your help!
Thanks Bill.....it was just a fuse under the hood. swapped 2 fuses and it fired up.... not to sure what one...wasnt home when this is was done. but its fixed now! thank god!

It's probably going to be about the same as going into a bonne column. PITA and special tools needed
