I have driven some pretty bad cars in my lifetime. One of them our neighbor gave to us. The drivers door handle was broken and you had to open the back door and reach through to the front to open the door. On the passenger side you had to reach out the door to pull the handle to get out. It was such a redneck car it was embarrassing!!
Another one the drivers seat was broken and we had to put a milk crate in there to hold the seat up.
Then there was the one that smoked horribly. It broke down on me on I-80 on my way home from work on Mother'* Day. I got a ride home from a nice Christian lady. I had no money to offer her for the ride so I offered to give her the flowers I had bought myself earlier to make me feel better. She declined the flowers and said her kids had bought her some and that I should try and enjoy what was left of mothers day.
One time I got pulled over on Mothers day and the cop asked me when I was getting the cracked windshield fixed. I told him that it would cost me more than the car was worth to do so and I was not about to do that. He let me go and told me to have a nice day.
Let'* just say my husband (Jeff'* dad) was mechanically challenged.
