Wow so hear this guys...

( I have a blown headlight out due to eltrical wire, and my tails you can't see suipposively keep in mind )

I was with my one friend Jay last night and we went out to chill with are 2 other friends who lives in the next town to me..So we were with them for awhile and we started to come home around 12ish to meet up with someone else. I'm driving down the road and I see a cop who was trying to make a left, well I went past him and what do you know he decided to make a right instead to be near me!

So I'm driving not worrying to much and he just flys up my A##. So I'm like alright buddy put on your lights I know I'm getting hit. So he pulls me over ( weird he pulled me over in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot lol ) and ask for my license and all. He told me about my lights which I said yes I knew and that its going into the shop to figure whats up with the wiring. Well another cop came and pulled over and me and my freind are like wow. Next thing you know, another cop. But this cop was a K9. So the copS come up to my car and ask me to step out and go to the curb so I do and they start telling me how it doesn't matter if its 8lbs of pot or just a joint me and a friend just smoke, he'll find it. So he asked my friend to step out, ask if we had anything on us or in the car and obviously were like no. So the dog goes, didn't find anything obsiously. But of course had to take his time sniffing while we were standing outside in the below 0 weather...

Well I ended up getting a ticket and warning...No biggie just $50 bucks no points but still what a FUN night!!!

you know if you deny it, and the feel they have "probable cause", they can take you to the station, right?
not worth it if you have nothing to hide

I knew that I could tell them no, and that they were suppose to ask to search...

But like Bonnevillan said I had nothing to hid and I didn't feel like going to the station waiting for therepermission from the judge to search, cause if that happend they would of torn everything apart to find and I wasn't for that lol

Please, don't bash cops. Some do their jobs well... some don't. Many of them deal with a TON of crap that would make Mother Teresa cynical. I find it hard to blame suspicion when it'* their job to stop crime. I've been an innocent "victim" of seemingly over-exhuberant police action myself, but I found out later they were looking for someone that beat up his wife and took off in the same kind of car I was driving, which happened to be a Monte Carlo as well.

i agree. They sacrifice a lot to keep you safe, and get no thanks. Then the minute they inconvenience you, they are suddenly the bad guys? Just because he asked you what you were doing? that'* no reason to hate them.

This is all true. I do agree alot of cops do desearve a pat on the back and all that but the couple of departments in my area are all dirty.

so by all means im not bashing all cops.

But also cops have changed alot ever since they have to have a full quota every month of tickets.

thats just stupid if you ask me.

Believe me they dont have a quota. I'm just going through the hiring process to be a cop now in Omaha. Their supervisors know who'* out there doing something and who'* just collecting a paycheck but they dont have a hard quota.

I've always liked the cops in the little podunk town I grew up in. Most are good people. Some are dirty, thats inevitable. Especially in areas where their is enough money doing illegal things (usually drug related) that it becomes profitable to be dirty.

And if you really wanted to have a fun night you could have told him no to search your car. The police station is kinda fun. A room full of drunks and criminals is kinda fun.

I'm not trying to argue, but being a cop is completely volitional and voluntary. They were not forced into their jobs. In all of my jobs, I would have to swallow my pride/dignity, and put on a smiling face to everyone. I don't think it'* too much to ask of them to be fair and level headed. We are not ruled by the police, so I don't think it is right that we just take abuse or mistreatment because they have a tough job. We as a people employ them for our mutual safety, and though the job is stressful, they knew the pay level and the job description before they joined up. If they can't handle it, they should quit and do something that is less stressful. This isn't me singling cops out, I have respect for police officers. I don't have respect for people that put themselves in situations they can't handle or can't handle well, and then pass the stress onto others (in various forms). There is no viable excuse for that. Just because they put their lives on the line in their work doesn't mean they deserve some exempt status from humanity or compassion for other people. No one forced them out of bed to do their job, it was all their own choice. Cops are not inevitably the good guys. In fact, they are just as bad as the average person (or good if you're an optimist). They are people like us, and have the same level of fallibility.

In your situation, I probably would have said no to the car search on principle, unless I gave him some reason to think I was holding. I'd rather inconvenience myself than to submit to something I feel is a complete injustice.

PS: If you think I'm bashing cops, you have read what I've said wrong.
PSS: I also feel they do not get paid enough to do what they do. I feel that there needs to be some sort of restructuring so as to pay the high risk officers more than the low risk officers (like traffic, etc). Of course, this is all up to the people and the people are too apathetic to initiate any kind of change (even for just a simple raise for all officers).
