Introducing the "Devil" My 93 Cadillac Deville. AKA Winter Beater. Sad part about it is the camera taking the pictures cost more than the car did.

Soon it will have some ghetto golds on it and some snow tires. Its a very comfy car for $600...I dont think I could have done any better. It needs nothing, everything works on it, and it gets 27MPG on the highway.

OLDsman105 09-27-2007 05:12 PM

Theres no Northstar in there. Its safe

Looking great Hans.

What body is the Deville? Looks just like an H body under the hood.

LOL sorry....

Doesn't that car come with a 4T60E-HD

Hans 09-27-2007 05:35 PM

C body...as in Buick Park Ave, Olds 98, etc.

Aside from not burning or leaking any fluids the car has a brand new radiator as well....also a trans cooler was a bit surprising.

It also has working CCR :o

Umm..My uncle had the same car with 4.9 but was a special LWB version and it was not all that fast and laying any 20 foot DUAL stripes ;) Even cadillacs with Northstars barely leave one short stripe and thats turning.

OLDsman105 09-27-2007 05:44 PM

Hans, Can you take a picture of the RPO codes. I am curious what suspension package that car has.

The tires are cracked, bald, and dry. That might have something to do with it. The car has been sitting for a while..

Also, you need to unplug the WSS to get it to burn out.

200HP@4100rpm
275ft-lbs@3000rpm
it has MORE torque than an SSEi of the same year and 5 less HP.

Cheetah 09-27-2007 06:25 PM

PFI eh? 8)

TheDude 09-27-2007 06:25 PM

I HATE Cadillacs. I work on at least 2 a day. PINA !!! But, most of them I see have 200K+ on the odemeter. Those 4.9's sound pretty good with a turbo style muffler on them too. ;)

Shadow 09-27-2007 07:37 PM

Not bad at all for a $600.00 car. That car is much nicer than many people main cars lol

Ummmm....I've owned that same motor in a LIGHTER model. It's a joke. Highly overrated, and that over-rating was when it was NEW and didn't have compression problems or trans wear.

The 4.9 is more reliable and less troublesome than the Northstar, but it is not a powerhouse.

Peak torque comes at a higher rpm, and is not flat. Very peaky.

It was designed to deliver smooth power in a land yacht driven by old people.

Man, you go through a lot of cars! Are you trying to make a profit off them or do you just like a new car every few months? :)

MyLittleBlackBird 09-28-2007 08:33 AM

Time to port the heads.

repinS 09-28-2007 09:59 AM

Aren't these babies known for head gaskets?

No but the cylinder sleeves are a real blast to change out once they crack. or am I thinking of the 4100? they both suck.

McGrath 09-29-2007 12:29 PM

Wheres the 0-60 video? :)

JimmyFloyd 09-29-2007 04:15 PM

when's it going to be for sale and the new beater post up?

Doesn't look bad and should suit the beater usage just fine.

banned3800 09-29-2007 05:38 PM

That car will have the 4T60E HD.... make sure to change the fluid and filter...

The 4.9 is good motor... Its enough to move the caddy around..

The motor will run forever.... Just make sure to never run it hot at all... DO NOT OVERHEAT this motor...

The 4100 was a total POS from the word go... The 4500 was a good improvement... Used to be we would swap in a 4500 in the place of a 4100 to avoid problems..

Looks like an ok winter beater...

Now are you done buying cars ? lol

Have a *Mint* Condition 86 Fleetwood D'elegance, C body. You gotta use the special GM cooling pellets with every coolant change. The car i have is in neer showroom condition. The first owner barely drove it. Every single part on the vehicle at 138,000kms was factory. Then i dumped 5000 into it fixing every single thing that started going wrong. Love that little beast. Though the 4.1 in mine has 120hp :( But then again these cars are made for cruising.
