How people misjudge people.

In a recent PM exchange with another member, I was reminded of how odd it was that people have jr's3800 and I 'figured out' exactly backwards.

People have me pegged as the hardass, and him as the quiet mild one. Very few people know that I'm the one that gives probably too many 'chances' to people with issues here.

Until they meet us. Those that have met one or both of us are sometimes surprised at how opposite they had us figured originally.

I used to be in the same situation, but I've gotten to the point where I can figure people out from their posts pretty quickly now.

Who'* the member that stands out in your mind as totally different than you had them figured? How were they different after you finally met them in person?

Me I heard i'm an ******* in person.

Never met anyone from here, but I'm sure this won't be a dull thread

x2, but in any event I have to laugh when I see how "serious" some things are handled on here. This is just the internet, right?

Some folks DEFINITELY come across as being harda$$es. But most folks are genuine and we all address the way that we care for others in different ways.

Having been here a couple of years now, I know that no matter how an admin or gearhead seems to come off, I have never seen them give advice that would harm thier car or jeapordize safety. It may be just the internet, but they seem to take it seriously when advising people about things.

I do have a set idea about how certain folks here act in person and I am sure, that if I ever met any of them, it would be different than what I have in my head. And yeah its all good, I don't think badly of any member here.

I agree... some things on here seem uptight sometimes with the way they are for the internet.

But then again this is one of THE cleanest, most well organized forums i have ever run across.

Commenting on your primary post, Bill, I think people have you in the hardass mindset simply because you do most of the dirty work, making the appearance of it all being you. Although, after talking to Don, it would take some major convincing to get me believe that he is a hardass Because if he'* a hardass, and you're supposedly the opposite, you must be a harmless puppy dog :P

Hmm, lets see, who did I figure out was nicer than they came off to be? hmm, well yet to meet any members, which is highly unfortunate, but i think that when i first joined, i sort of had a default mind set for everyone, which i normally do in everyday life. "Stay positive until theres reason for otherwise" If anything, most the people here are alot nicer than I ever would have anticipated them to be. It feels quite far from reality because most of us seem to let our guards down when we come on here and all seem to treat each other as equals. Its a good thing. Kinda like one big family...all have our quirks, but all seem to accept each other just the same. For the most part that is.

Can't say much about the folks I've met, but I'm so much cooler online...
