My new project for Christmas

Some (very few) of you may remember my last project from a few years ago.

Well I have been bitten by the woodworking bug again and thought I would share with you the plans of my next big project for another special lady (unfortunately not girlfriend, just special).

All the shaded area will be an exotic deep colored wood of unknown variety. In the lid will be inlaid a VERY light colored, hand engraved accented, snowflake. The inside will be divided up into compartments by the light wood that may or may not extend out past the walls of the box. The drawing shows it with them extending past.

Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions of wood to use, keeping in mind i will have to hand engrave both types on the lid...

(Click to make it bigger... it is 1500x1165 px)

Oh and if i can manage to do it tastefully (or have it done electronically) I am going to engrave this quote on a side, or around the snowflake:

That looks really tedious.

She must be really special.

That's awesome.
I'd say extend the dividers like you have drawn.
Very cool.

Update for those who are interested. Ok, since it is my current major in school, i play with cad now.

Here is my finished design (that will be HECK to build with the initial in it) that i am officially starting on as of tomorrow.

This will be VERY close to the finished colors as i am using ribbon sapele (related to mahogany) and birdseye maple for the woods. Unfortunately i cant control the wood grain direction on solidworks so it shows up weird.
