Default -Where fwd came from

Personally I think this is sweet---
its accually nothing more then a 4x4 truck without a back axel
Someone was so nice to cut up a 1978 eldorado with a 425 and put it on ebay---

-well this isnt where fwd came from, but this is the same idea thing that oldsmobile had in 1966 with the toronado.
--so if anyone has ever wonderd they the early eldorado/toronado hoods where so long. thats why. all that has to fit under it... it would be so easy to turn that car into a 4x4 or a rear wheel drive. and with the extra room you saved under the hood.. why not a v16

only differance between the toronado and the eldorado- eldorado only had hidden headlights for one year then went to standard headlights, while the toronado always (expt for the early 70- early 80s ones) had hidden headlights, and the eldorado always changed to the newer body style a year or two after the toronado

these numbers will look a bit scary, but keep in mind the toronado/eldorado weighed about 4,800lbs! (for only the first too generations)
400hp/ 510ft pound torque (and that was only the 455) cadillac had a different engine (501ci!)
-The rarest 1977 toronado (XSR) was a 5 made All destoryed by GM (unsafe) Power t-tops!

-but of coarse what would a toronado be with out a eldorado-
they made 3 power t-top eldorados in 1978 (year after)
2 where destoryed by GM but one got away and is said to be worth LOTS!

-
another rare toronado- the 1978 (check out that back window- Thats gotta be worth Tons)

Then not much happend for the E body from 79-85 it got a diesel engine option. Hardly any out there. <for good cause...
-then 1986 came along and a new body style, way smaller
-ripped from car-domain
-now you have to ask yourself how this same body (E body) can change 2thousand pounds and over 300lbs of torqe and 240hp!
-the 86toro was rated at 150hp @ 4400, and 190ft pounds @ 2000
-I dont have numbers on the 4.1L Atleast cadillac kept the v8!

now the 87! toro same as 86--- but 10more ft pounds of torque.
and the year the bonneville change its platform!
-and the year the riveria changed to ebody (but only sticked around till 94-didnt even change with toronado and eldo) and then changed over into the 95 SC/d one!

the 88 toro got 165hp and 215! ft pounds.
-then the engine was unchange until the second year of the new body style 90-92
-Also the year the reatta (buick) joined the Ebodys--now if you havnt heard much on the toronado up to this point in your life, im sure you have no stinkiin clue what a reatta is!

-im sure everyone reading this can name 8 different cars that looks like---and the picture was ripped from car domain. (only place I could find picture--serous)

Then in 1990 toro got more lenth (again) and in 1991 it got some more HP! 170 and 220ft pounds.
In 1992 the trofeo died :(
and in 1992 cadillac changed there eldorado over to the newer longer body (and sence they where making money to beat hell they kept the 92 body style around untill 2002(and sence toronado died they had no one to follow they killed it)

--RIP FWD eldorado 1967-2002

--RIP toronado 1966-1992

*notice any compairsons to the one in my sig yeh i have 2 E bodys a 92 toronado trofeo (option pakage ei. sun roof-they already came standerd with leather in 92)
and i also own an 87 witch is currently being painted (damn late 80s clear coat chipage!)--once i sell the car i will post a picture (you can see a relection of it in the front fender of my 92 in sig) of it.

--now i said fwd eldorado... but there was a rwd one from 52-66

-another thing to think about
-Why was killing the camaro (67-02) so much more talked about and bitched about the the killing of eldorado (52-02 or 67-02)-i believe the rwd and fwd eldorados dont even belong with the same name... there you have it folks 50 years of eldorado.

------sorry for the non-puncuation and capital letters------ it is 2am. If i get any positive response i mite dig up the whole history on the bonneville.
- i hope all the pix work..
