There is no way the Grand Prix is the flagship. TV ads don't decide flagship models, its the combination of the best technology, highest trim levels and usually highest price. Any top of the line loaded new Bonneville SSEi should and probably is higher then a loaded Grand Prix GT or GTP...(special edition trim levels need not apply)

Think for one second, BMW rarely has ads on TV for the 7 series, but has plenty for the 5 and 3 series, does that make the 5 the flagship?...clearly not.

Sedan line for Pontiac, starts with Sunfire, Grand Am, Grand Prix and Bonneville. Vibe, Aztek and Montana are in a separate class, lets compare apples to apples.

There is NO WAY the grand prix is the flagship. (i almost fainted when i read that hehe) Mostly it goes by prices I guess...the highest Grand Prix you can get is $27,890 US (MSRP)- and that'* the highest GTP, the comp g package or whatever it is....and that'* the LOWEST MSRP for the Bonneville - an SE. What does that tell you?

Regardless, just look at the features that come with them....that'* also a good indication.

You just see so many Grand Prix commercials because they are Pontiac Civics (forgive me) and EVERYBODY has one...it'* probably their best selling car because it'* cheap (due to the fact that there are SO MANY) and people figure they are getting a deal for what they get.

The difference I guess is that you really DO get what you pay for. I've said this before, and to keep people from taking it personally, i'll just stick to the gp being MY idea of an econo Bonneville. Something that wants to have it, and tries to mimic it, though despite the fact that it'* like a couple fractions of a second faster, it has NOTHING on the Bonneville, and never will have the prestigue that comes with such a car. You don't get prestigue on every street corner.

Oh dear...i've rattled on again.

oh, this is Tamara by the way in case you hadn't guessed (hehe) But you've probably already figured that out by the post!

Ah..the passion. But if the Bonne is kyboshed in CAN in 05, the GP becomes the top of the line car in the Pontiac line

Update that sig now Tamara...both of them

I agree about the GPs just not being of the same quality. They're fast, and "cute", if you like that sort of thing, but the quality isn't there IMO. My mother has one, and I had one, and what I learned is that they rattle, have a lot of wind noise (among other wierd noises that the Bonnies never exibit...squeeks, cracks, etc), have plasticy parts with seams and unfinished edges, and don't handle high speeds with the same grace and comfort. I have nothing against them , but they just aren't as nice. It'* the attention to detail that makes the difference....I've never seen a Bonnie with an inside door handle that looks like my mom'* GP'*...hers have seams on the plastic handles that are a little rough and look as if they didn't smooth them after molding.

I could never go back.

I don't know very many auto magasines that have not reffered to the big Prix as having poor build quality. Car and Driver among many others refer to it as rental car quality.

I'm gonna get negative here...

A Bonneville IS a Grand Prix! Thats how I see it. Some engine, insides, just different bodies. If the Grand Prix is cheaply made, the Bonneville is too. Look at the dash of both the GP'* and Bonnies...they are the SAME.

Grand Prix'* are not the cute little girly Pontiac, thats the Sunfire'* job.

The flagship is the Trans Am, she shall always live on as the best Pontiac in my world.
