When/if you sell her let us know. I've been courious about what kind of price I'd put on my Z28.

BillBoost37 07-20-2007 07:34 AM

While there might not be a big difference in the USD vs CAD, there is a difference in the amount of these cars availabe in the area where you are located. Do you see many..is it considered rare in the area you are selling?

To compare..look at Bob in Az.. he hardly ever see's a bonne and that either makes them overly valuable to someone that wants one.

My wife and I have a 79 TA identical to that (except ours is red with the bird on the hood). There are pictures around here....somewhere. It has 130K and the WS6 package (rear discs). A guy driving by my father-in-law's house spotted it sitting in the garage (where we store it) and offered $6000 cash, on the spot. IMO, the offer was kind of on the spot.

The interior in ours is in great condition and the paint is decent.

 When I bought it I had to remove the CB antennae and plugged the hole in the right rear quarter. I listen to discs.

Yes Bill, they are rare around here. Can't find any parts cars at the wreckers anymore.
I know what I have.
It's a great car. Love the handling. Love the power. Love the semi open top.
Very easy car to troubleshoot..........NO PCM :!: All mechanical.....except the ignition.
It cost $10,000. brand new in 1979. With cost of living increases since then, that would be equivalent to about $40,000 today.
I expect it should appreciate.
A paint job would be worth about $5,000 for a good quality job.

My pristine Formula has been appraised by a professional auto appraiser 5 years ago at $14,500.
It is virually the same car without the T-Tops.

the T-Tops leak a bit

chadow427 07-21-2007 03:49 AM

Screw puttin a paint job on it, I love the flat black.

(plus if ya put a paint job on it, you might back into a woodpile or something)

I have a 78 that is a 4 spd hard top and sight un seen this guy offered me 10k for it but I told him it wasn't for sale it all depends like you said on location and options.

2000SilverBullet 07-21-2007 03:56 AM

I fell in love with the 78 T/A but couldn't afford one until 79 when I bought it brand new.

petraman 07-21-2007 10:26 AM

I would paint it. Think about this, if you get it painted, on first glance it'd seem like a show car, people would buy it almost on the spot. IMO, you'd be able to sell it for a LOT more than the actual paint job...

2000SilverBullet 07-21-2007 01:29 PM

That is my plan for this winter if it doesn't sell by then.
I will not drop my price.
It is worth more than that to me. It's a jewel in the rough.

......it always makes Victor say "Shit :!:  " when ever I floor it. A very different feeling than in the Bonne.
.....and the car alarm set off feature makes it cool.

Shadow 07-21-2007 01:32 PM

Wow the engine sounded like it hardly had to work to get up to speed. nice

2000SilverBullet 07-21-2007 01:34 PM

It has so much low speed torque and only has to rev to 5000 rpm max

Makes it very reliable. ;)
