I'm Amazed
I went to K-Mart today for the first time in probably 2 years, because they had a good deal on Detergent and my mom wanted it. While i was there i picked up some pop, 12 pack of cans 3 for $9. I went up to the counter. The guy at the counter rings everything up, then i looked at the display to make sure everything rang up the right price. Well the pops rang up wrong so i told him. He had to call 10 different places to make sure i wasn't lying Finally he figures out they are 3 for $9. Then he just kinda stands there staring at the screen for a while, then calls to the service desk and says "Yea, I'm gonna need some help over here" After he hangs up with them, he looks at me, and says "They're 3 for 9, I'm just trying to figure out how much it would be for 1" I thought he was joking at first but he was completely serious. I told him they would be 3 each, and he'* like Oh. and rings it up for 3 each.
I am just amazed that someone who can't do elementary division is working a cash register. :?

Kmart here has the absolute worst reputation for under-achievers. They are clearly (and by far) the slowest moving checout lines anywhere. I avoid Kmart for that reason if at all possible.

If they can't have the register figure it out for them, they are totally lost. Watch how many times they have to look at the register as they reach for your change after it tells them how much. Also, if say your bill comes to $5 something, and you hand them $11 so you can get a 5 instead of a bunch of 1s - watch their confusion.
When was the last time someone had their changed counted out for them, rather than just handing you a wad with "---- is your change"?

That'* the same story with Kmart here too. I hate going there, despite the limited Craftsman line they have now.
Only time I really enjoyed going to Kmart was in Guam. They have the world'* largest Kmart there. Parking on the roof to boot! It was cool watching all the Japanese and Brits shop there...picking up everything they can get, 'cuz it was all duty free.

Same with our Kmart here. Not to offend at all, but all we have working at ours is punky little 16 year olds that do nothing but goof off. We asked for something one time, and the kid said "I will be right back with it out of the stockroom." Well, 10 mins later, we go around the corner to find him standing there goofing off with another worker. My dad asked him firmly "WELL, did you get my quarts of oil?" The kid stood there and went, "I was going to get oil?"

i still shop at kmart every chance i get. even at it'* worst it'* 500 times better than whitetrashmart, sorry, walmart.
never crowded, i'm in and out, never have to deal with welfare mom, or the enormous fat lady on the cart. the decaying door greeter or the mile long lines at the four of 50 cash registers they have open. at kmart the employees don't hide when they see me coming, when i ask them questions the respond. in english and i've yet to be run over by a stampede of little mexican kids at 4am.
yeah, given the choice i'll spend the extra 4 cents on paper towels instead of going to walmart.

Kmart has always had a rep for being a dump. But even with their shortcomings and the fact that only one register is ever open, it is better than less*fortunate*caucasian*people*mart.
