Erasing a hard drive
What'* the best way to erase a hard drive with widows XP? And plese keep it simple since I'm not a pc guru.

erase ? Or Reformat....

did you get your new hard drive working?
you can go to my computer and right click on the drive you would like to erase and go to format. and then quick format
that works if you have the old drive and new drive in the system at the same time.

At the moment I am very very frustrated since I have been trying to save as much data on my present hard drive, but so far the hard drive has locked up approximately 125 times, over the past 4 days I still haven't changed the hard drive, at the moment I've given up trying to save more data and all I want to do is just erase what on the present hard drive. For those that aren't up to date, I am changing hard drives since the present one is crashing all the time and I fell like throwing it out the window.

then b4 doing anything drastic get a new Hard drive and while you are at it pick up an external case and set the flucked up one to a slave..
pull the things you want off of it then format it

I already have the new hard drive thanks to Hans and I have to return the old one due to warranty requirements, that'* why I wanted to erase the old one before returning it. What I wasn't able to save is my loss. My son hurt me having a break down...j/k so he'* taking over while I chill for a bit.

what kind of drive is the old one and yes you can run them together..

If all you want to do is erase the data that is on your hard drive to keep the people you are returning it to from looking at it, all you need to do is run a huge magnet by it. If it is really fooked up, they wont even bother trying to pull the data off of it. They will pull all the platters and recycle them.
