Motorola T730

Hey all,

A few while ago I got a new cellphone, the Motorola T730.

I asked the salesman if I could download pictures and ringtones, he said that Aliant (which is my provider) didn't have that stuff setup yet, but they were going to soon.

So anyways I purchased the phone. I did see a Media Center on it, which had pictures and sounds pre-programed in it, like samples.

Anyways... months went by and I never thought more of it.
Then my friend gets a new cellphone and starts downloading ringstones and such on Aliant's network. So I think... ok.. cool... now I can too.....

Except I can't..... the phone doesn't and never will support it.
I can "make" my own ringtones, but I can't download them. Nor can I download or make any images.

.... unless I hack it....

Anyone have one of these phones?
Or does anyone know a good site I can goto to get programs for hacking it?
I've been searching all day, and have found plenty for the T720, but that's very different from my phone. It runs on Java which my phone doesn't support.

Anyways, just was wondering if anyone else here had that phone, and was as fustrated as I am.

UPDATE:

Ok... I hacked my phone.....

If anyone is interested in doing it.... let me know.... what I did should work for any T720 or T730.

I currently have a Windows Pocket PC background... abd Beverly Hills Cop as my ringtone.... hehe

Nice! I sold that phone a couple of times when it first came out at Radioshack and I loved how good the ringtones sounded.

Hacked..... when the phone is designed specifically not for adding pictures or ringtones, I call that a hack. If I just pushed some buttons on the phone, and "unlocked" it, that would be another story. But actually re-programing the phone.... that's a hack. :)

Have you looked into BitPim for your phone? It's a neat, free, program for messing with your phone. Allows you to up/download data to/from your phopne through a USB data cable.

It's what I use so I don't have to use up my PIX/TXT Messages

maybe u dont understand what unlocking a cell phone means.... u should look it up... unlocking the cell phone allows u to reprogram it...
most people use this feature so that can use 2 service providers on 1 phone

But, he's just talking about adding Ringtones and such. That's not really "Hacking" a phone.

Besides, it's just terminology. Too many words are used for different things....

Two service providers on one phone?? No, most people use it to get free, illegal service on one phone. www.cellphonehacks.com/ is the place to go. Use the search, the guys there are real assholes.

I'd say giving a phone a feature/ability that it doesn't have is a hack.
