Default PDA acting up

evening members,

dad gave me his HP Ipaq 5500 series PDA. It was top of the line 3 years ago and is in great shape, but when i went to turn it on the only screen that it shows is the boot screen and it stays on. I did a soft reset and then a hard reset and it is still on the same white screen.

I dont know what the problem is, the charge light wont show that it is charging either and it has been plugged in all day. anyone know if there is a safety that will not let the PDA to turn on if the battery cant charge above a certain level??? I have 500000000000 HP products in my house and usually i can fix HP, this time im stuck

Hmm might try check at the HP site and see if one of the ROM updates will install - (fixed a old Ipaq I had that would not boot by doing that)

*was this the full reset you tried?
