Default Computer Field question

After I am here working at the community college for 1 year I can take any classes I want for free, I am planning on taking all the classed for A+, Network +, and MCSE, whats the job market look like for these jobs. Probalby would make more than I would here as a security officer. I could also go through complete GM ASE too free, might do both, why not, its free

I have a friend who makes like $95,000 per year and she is a data programmer and she keeps taking all these classes for the latest and newest trends to further her career. The only thing is that a lot of our American companies are sending OUR jobs overseas to pay people there a mere pittance. It is a disgrace. My son is going to school for programmer but now I am trying to convince him to stay in school and learn repairs because everyone has problems troubleshooting from time to time. I think that is where the real money will be at. Has anyone taken SQL lately? My son is having some trouble with that course.

IT is very tough right now, don't let anyone fool you.....The certs are fine, but you need experience to back those certifications up.

Where?? Nobody hires straight Techs anymore. They want Admins that know how to fix the machines (or prograammers, etc). I got my A+, and with 20 years of experience, it still won't get me a job without MCSP or E, or Cisco Certs, or whatever.

I even checked out places like Best Buy, but they can hire HS kids to fix comps and install parts there. Heck, my kid has a better chance at that job than I do, because he got A+, and is working on Net+, through his High School.

If you're gonna go for it, get all the certs you can rack up, and then expect to get hired at the low end of the totem pole. Somewheres around the cement that holds it up level.

Actually, get the certs, and any job you can pull off at a tech company. Internal transfers are a lot easier than getting hired from outside.

Look in the newspaper for job listings. I am not saying your going to go work at the Trump Plaza or Microsoft, but there is a lot of company'* that just want some basic techies. When I lived in TN there was a lot of announcements like this, but a little fewer around here because of the population and I am in the middle of nowhere.
