Default got a funny feeling about this

premise: some of my neighbors [according to the neighborhood association] have had problems recently with break-ins, both houses and cars.

ive noticed an amazing increase in the number of calls we receive lately where one of us will pick up the phone and there'll be no one there, then a couple seconds later the phone will click off [the other end]. our room-mate told me yesterday that the phone was ringing almost off-the-hook the entire day when both me and nancy were gone. when i got home, there was one ghost call, then no more the entire day. today im going to work an hour later than usual, so im leaving an hour later than usual, and the phone has rung three times between the time when i usually leave and now (the space of roughly an hour).

ive been watching the neighborhood cars closely today and ive been noticing them when i leave and come back over the last week, and there have been no out-of-place cars.

am i paranoid, or is my stuff about to get jacked? what do you think?

Start making a list of what you've got and look for old receipts... that sounds fishy. Can you request your line be recorded or something like that? *69?

thanks for the input so far.

thought id post real fast saying that yes i do realize the irony inherent in taking the time to spell "percocet" correctly, but not "dude", "your", or "just".

I believe I'd break out the engraver and start marking the bigger ticket items

Or maybe try this......

Call the phone company NOW... even if there number is unlisted the phone co. can keep a record of who is calling you. This may prove useful. Next go to the homeowners assoc. and ask who has had a problem and see if the same type of calls came to them before the breakins. This would be helpful information for your police dept if you find a trend that all the breakins occured after alot of hang ups.

All that and LOCK YOUR CAR. You would be amazed at how many cars are stolen with the keys left in them.

Well, I hope everything works out. I would definitely be concerned if I were you. It looks like you have received some great advice, as usual for the Club.

Not to mention stuff stolen from the car just cause the car was unlocked. I can vouch personally form my younger days when all of my "hoodlum;' friends would help themselves to people'* belongings simply because the cars were unlocked. Unless they knew for certain there was something valuable inside, just the fact the car was locked made them pass right by. Now, were not talking hi tech career thieves, but they could get in If they wanted to, but usually didn't bother. Bottom line, lock your doors.

Something don't sound right, but don't kill yourself worrying over it.
