Default Holy Crap!!! Check this out!!

Look at the #'* with just headers -189 HP and 292 lb ft with just headers -AND THEY ONLY USED A 2 BRL CARB -I HAVE A 4BRL!!!!!!

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/t...155_0312_teen/

Looks like the plans I have will net my 318 in the Dippy over my original goal of 300 hp and 400 lb ft at the crank. I don't want to brag before I start when there'* nothing to show (for me -yet), but just wanted to give you guys an idea of what I'm dealing with here. -Yes, I am giddy with excitement -I already bought my MSD Blaster 2 Coil, Belden Premium 8mm wires, VHT 1300-2000* ceramic coating for the headers and am ordering the headers next week along with a new ignition system.

Told ya that motor had abeast bottom end!
Before you put anything on that motor, have you had your tranny checked out?
Make sure it'* up to the task of handling that kind of power. Keep in mind that there are aftermarket possibilties for a heavier tranny if you go for the full-bore mods.

BTW, do you have vacuum secondaries on that 4bbl? You can get more tip-in response by getting a linkage kit instead.

I plan on a new intake mani and carb setup -which one'* I don't know yet. I want something that will still allow me to do some cruising and get 15mpg -the original 360 was getting me 22 mpg on the freeway. That'* what the window sticker on 1978 Chrysler Cordoba'* showed for highway mileage so I knew I wasn't doing bad math.
As for the trans, when my cousin swapped the 318 in, he said he checked the tags on the transmission and it'* a heavyduty 727 for the tow package. I'm going to assume it'll last a short while. :( There is only around 120k (I forget how many miles, but I know it'* under 130k since we bought the car with 89k) on the rust free Arizona car/trans and the original owner was a guy who at the time we bought it in 1998 was 67 yo and he said he only used the car for highway trips, and he'd never towed anything (no trailer hitch on the car nor evidence of there ever having been one on the car).
