Default TechTv

Anyone know what happend to them? I know they did the merge with G4, and now they aren't even close to the same network. They just have a lot of crap for idiots, and "how do I install windoze 98" type crap. What happend to the uber geek techtv that I used to adore?

It'* way too n00b now... What the hell happened to Patrick Norton? He was with G4TTV for a while... and then he disappeared.

Leo moved to TechTV Canada... doing a Canada-only Call for Help. Though I don't get TechTV Canada, as I've got DishNetwork...

Everyone with TTV got fired, and some people were able to get their job back, etc. It was bought by SpikeTV, and i bet they do get more viewers.

I dont' know if i ever woulda called it uber geek tv myself.. The last 6 months of Tech TV was all pretty basic stuff...

last 6 mo?? I'm talking at LEAST a year ago. Back then there was nothing but cool. I remember Patrick got married, and so he left. Kevin is still there [but he'* a poser, so who cares?"

Either way.. it sucks that they were bought out like that, because now it'* all "gaming this, gaming that" and not "check out this super cool new underground linux distro" or "the bleeding edge of water cooling" I hate that!

Just goes to show you all, money can be a powerful thing.. and look what it did to TechTv

I think they didn't have a "target market" per se. They tried to get the simple avg home users with shows like call for help, which only had help on MAYBE 1.2 the airtime, or they were too busy telling us what to buy. They always talked about things advertisers and companies would want to show as well, not just things that people are interested in the most, video cards etc.

They were best around the ZDTV/TechTV change.

Yes Kevin was an idiot.

Canadian SpikeTV sucks so hardcore. You know when they show special, uncut movies and such? They advertise exactly the same way here as they would for the US. Stuff like Dog Day Afternoon... or any "Uncut" movie. But when it actually comes time to show the movie, you'll still get ads for it. You'll still get "Now: [insert movie name here, Godfather II, for example]" at the bottom of the screen.

But what ends up airing? **** like RealTV or Oblivious. I was actually surprised when they really did show Godfather III a few weeks ago... of course, I watched it.

I enjoyed some of the weekend-morning car shows. Super 2NR TV (they actually did real stuff, not rice rice, baby that shows like NOPI Tunervision did) and Redline TV. I notice all three shows are gone, replaced by (no offense to you 2-wheeled people) bike shows.
