Default 1st (I know of) CMH for Iraq action.

http://www.army.mil/MedalOfHonor/profile/index.html

Sgt. 1st Class Smith’* actions to lead Soldiers in direct contact with a numerically superior enemy--to personally engage the enemy with a fragmentation grenade, AT-4, and individual weapon, to ultimately assume the track commander’* position to fire the .50-Cal. machinegun through at least three boxes of ammunition before being mortally wounded--demonstrates conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty. His actions prevented a penetration in the Task Force 2-7 sector, defended the aid station, mortars, and scouts, and allowed the evacuation of Soldiers wounded by indirect enemy fire.

Been a couple already at least. First was a Marine that jumped on a grenade, throwing his helmet over it and shielding with his body. Saved a dozen people. He died a week later.

Smith threw two grenades and fired rocket launchers at the enemy before manning a .50-caliber machine gun on an M-113 Armored Personnel Carrier to protect his troops. While engaging an enemy attacking from three sides, Smith fired more than 300 rounds from the machinegun before being killed.

Makes me proud to have served alas but in a different era. I would have felt secure with SFC Smith on point when out on patrol.

I have friends at work who have sons and even one daughter in Iraq and from what I hear a lot of the equipment is field modified. Could be that the ammo box was modified to hold more than 200 rounds. Not being critical just a thought.

No prob,
I've been a .50 gunner and the boxes I used had 200 in them. But there are bigger boxes but I don't know that they hold.

STD size that used for other ammo also: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ctd/p...C0QFB1PN67BWW7

Big can:
