Purina Mighty Dog doesn't seem to be on the list.

sonoma_zr2 03-18-2007 12:33 PM

for IAM's , it only effects the canned food, not dry.

PontiacMom 03-18-2007 12:50 PM

Kirkland Dry Cat and Whiskas Canned Cat food are not on that list.......Okay I can breathe a little easier now.

willwren 03-18-2007 12:59 PM

Nuthin but the best for the boy:

Whatever is cheap for the cats. Right now it's Purina cat chow. Not on the list.

Luckly my cat eats dry Iams

Jack 03-18-2007 06:24 PM

wow, thanks for posting that one. TJ gets the Science Diet dryfood, not the canned stuff that was listed.

Stylin'Deedle 03-18-2007 07:55 PM

Wow...I'm happy we feed NutriSource to our dog and cats! My dog forums (Yes. I frequent The BigDogsPorch.....dedicated to giants!!!) have been in a tizzy since this was released as MANY shelters feed the brands listed.

It absolutely kills my heart that animals have died from this.

My wifes friend fed her cat one of those on the list. The cat died of liver failure earlier this week.

Sad to see it happen as she bought the stuff as a "treat" for the cat and doesn't normally buy it. Her older cat sniffed it and walked away.

Oh wow, that sucks. :( :?

My mom has 3 cats, and she was flipping out about this last night. Luckily the stuff she feeds their cats wasn't on their list.

Pearl_bonnie02 03-21-2007 02:42 PM

I sometimes give my Maggie some wet food as a treat, but luckily I haven't since January.

if that bothers you, check out iamscruelty.com
THAT will disturb you. Read at your own risk.

When we adopted our dog, they gave us a free bag of IAMS. I refuse to use it.
Iams is one of the worst offenders of hurting animals, them with their parent company Proctor and Gamble.

Iams does not give a crap about animals

Sorry, animals rights rant over...

myfirstbonnie 04-13-2007 05:10 AM

bill, I heard on the news last night, they did mention something about royal canine. You might want to check again. This seems like something that is going to be going on for a while.

Royal Canin isn't on the list. It's actually manufactured

RECALL INFORMATION
Royal Canin USA wishes to assure pet owners that our dry and wet pet food products are not involved in the ongoing FDA investigation related to the recent nationwide pet food recall initiated by Menu Foods and other companies.

We want to inform you that the recent recall announcement
by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on April 10
does not affect any Royal Canin products sold in US retail stores or available in vet clinics.

All of our brands, including Feline Health Nutrition, Canine Health Nutrition, Royal Canin Veterinary Diets, Sensible Choice, and Kasco, continue to be available nationwide.

The safety and nutritional quality of our pet food is our top priority because for many people, their pets are their top priorities.

For details about the recall and affected brands and products, please call Menu Foods at 1-866-895-2708, 1-866-463-6738 or visit the company’s web site at www.menufoods.com/recall for more information.

Royal Canin's parent company is actually based in France, and all food sold in the US is manufactured IN the US, not by Menu Foods in Canada.

J Wikoff 04-13-2007 10:43 AM

A variation of my dog's canned food made the list. I've checked the date codes and it's good.

Boog 04-13-2007 10:54 AM

I believe the affected Menu Foods plant is located in Emporia, Kansas.

impatient99 04-13-2007 07:00 PM

First beef, then Conagra/Peter pan, and now pet food. What is up with all the contaminated food lately? :?

myfirstbonnie 04-13-2007 08:31 PM

Actually it was a royal canine cat food made in a canadian plant. Figure that a cat food made by royal CANINE.

I actually looked it up and found it on KATU news website.
