Thats alot of Mac'* demise in a nutshell. They dont want to make things better than their counterparts, just equal and make Mac owners pay through the nose for almost everything. You have a 5% marketshare, make people search out for things like Windows has, then charge them for it?. I have a $299 dollar came stripped E-machine. With a 21" widescreen monitor running Windows. And can do some amazing things with all software running on it gotten FREE OF CHARGE.

What part of this scenario doesn't Apple get as the boo woo to Washington? And I'm not criticizing which OS is more stable or efficient. It'* about marketing and how you play the game. What you give away to develop consumer loyalty and acceptence across the board. Apple doesn't have a clue, never will, and at 5% of the OS market it remains a loss leader for them. It in their sphere of business operates at a loss. They have had a generation and a half to get this right. Time to stop painting Bills Gates and Co as the antiChrist. They have no one but themselves to blame.

The exact reason that the figures for Macs are at only 5.22% is because the misconception of Apples being overpriced are still in a lot of naive people'* heads. When, in reality, the concept, "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" has never been more true. Now, why they would be degrading, maybe they just haven't been on the internet very much Honestly, I don't care what the statistics say, because I'm not Steve, all I care about is that Apple is not going anywhere any time soon. And actually, I like it better that the Mac shares such a small percentage of the personal computer market, because that means that, one, there will be far less viruses for a Mac, and two, call me crazy, but I feel more unique owning a Mac... Even if there were a lot more people using Macs, it'd be a lot harder to sneak your way into a Mac, compared to just moseyin' on into a Windows.

My MAC can run both OSX and Windows XP. Can your Windows PC run OSX? Nope!

I don't think initial price has much to do with it. Sure you can find deals like mine but most Windows systems are comparable priced to Macs. It'* their well known stubborn trend to isolate their programs to be Mac specific and want money at every bend. Thats what really inflames me. They want to be a breed apart, yet want Windows and other software company'* to open their code and let them play. Pure BS. Apple want to have their own playground, have it. Don't bitch and moan because 95% of the people made an alternative selection. That kind of disparity doesn't come from manipulation. It comes from doing business in a manner people will open their wallets for. MS didn't handcuff anybody, or manipulate the masses. They used good business practices. When MS protects their property and interests, it called monopoly and foul. When Apple does it, it'* about being their own company and individuality. Fine be it, let the public decide and stop the wars that only choke improvements and drive costs higher.

Thats the big turn off for me. Not which system is superior. But which listens and caters to wants of the majority.

Hahahahaha!!!! Growing up with wierd Al it'* great to see him perfect his craft and go so far with it.

Ya Clayson, I never would ever say Windows is a better OS. My wife has and has used Apple for work forever. I even know my way around her'* fairly well. Never meant to sound like a Win Fan here. Matter of fact I'm a Vista hater and still weighing the cost benefit of a 7 upgrade as long as the XP system I have known for 10+ is viable and upgradable. Just so tired of the boo woo'ing and a trade war that has rekindled thats making software and internet stables line up and bed each other in secret and throw so much money into the courts over it all. We pay in the end. Apple wants to be a maverick, it should do it'* own thing and stop making everyone frantic with conspiracy theories and all. MS doesn't owe them a thing and I see that side of it. Sorry actually to get on the soapbox in a thread about their upping their OS. I just don't understand ballyhooing another OS step when they need to concentrate on getting what they already have in step with the rest of the pack,

Kevin, if I ever find something I can't find to do what a MAC does with Win, I might have a concern with not running both. For me having one OS is good enough. I prefer the one the bring up millions of hits for free programs when I google.

BTW, your a bit misleading. OS X can and is running on many Windows PC based systems. It only requires it'* own hard drive to done in a practical manner.

Not misleading at all. I can run them parallel and switch between the OS with a keystroke and on the same hard drive. With a Win machine you have to boot the OS you want at startup and you're stuck with it until you reboot. The key stroke repaginates, assigns memory and refreshes seamlessly.

The only reason I wouldn't do that is because now you would have to protect both OSs. Do you have antivirus for OSX, Kev?
