looking for ideas for a webpage

I have to create a small website about myself for my web class. I have a basic layout done with some tabs including: Home, About Me, Cars, Interests, Resume, Links

I have no idea what to include on the home page. Any ideas? I like things simple and neat, just like Google's home page.

take a look at what i have going on.

www.schueneman.net

I have my site there and there is a link on the "home" page to Sara's teaching website. once she gets a teaching job she intends to use it all the time... :)

my site doesn't flow all that well, but i was trying out different ideas.

Put some neat pic up top in the banner, maybe those ones you did with the blue lights..

If you like it simple, just make the front look like a Google but "Haroogle"

offtopic, but you should check your mouseover action for the oakland link. Also, you really need to put a title on your page so it doesn't just say "Untitled1".

ontopic, when i had my website up, i used it as sort of an unofficial transcript and resume. all my class grades were on it, as well as particularly big assignments, and a work history.

Take some of what you probably have under "About me" and put it on the homepage... just a short intro stating who you are, and what they will find on the site

no need for flash, this is a basic HTML class. I just need to fill it up with some text, tables and images.

*edit... someone erased their comment before I replied here ;)

Great start IMO. The only thing I would do is maybe make the menu bar a little shorter, just a little sleaker... Other than that, I love the color combo, and the logo is very professional. That looks like a good candidate for frames, have you thought about them? The best way to do them is with a DHTML script, but that might be a little too advanced for the class...

harofreak00 03-03-2008 03:15 PM

Thanks. Frames have always seemed sloppy to me, so I don't think I will be using them. I created that logo years ago and I have it on EVERYTHING, everyone that has ever ordered decals from me has seen it imprinted on the envelopes. The menu bar is made from an image map.

Bonnevillan 03-03-2008 03:16 PM

what does it stand for?

harofreak00 03-03-2008 03:16 PM

Andrew Ryan Suderman

ahh.. makes sense. my intials spell RAM so people would make it into something it's not supposed to mean. haha

you're quick with the replies today

harofreak00 03-03-2008 03:18 PM

I try ;)

petraman 03-03-2008 03:19 PM

You know Intense's older website? DHTML frames in action 8)
Yeah, it's not for everyone, I've made it work before on one of my sites, but it did get too complicated. Just a suggestion :-D

harofreak00 03-03-2008 03:26 PM

Yes, one of the main reason's why I think frames are sloppy.

I am very happy they changed it.

BonneMeMN 03-03-2008 07:45 PM

Frames suck, dynamic content FTW.

Pretty easy too.

jwakamud 03-03-2008 08:51 PM

you could utilize inline frames. i always kinda liked those.
